where do find the regulations?
apparently we have to have flame proof suits, flame proof gloves, (or flame proof hands if you're aco-driver) flame proof knickers, and flame proof bollocks now. I say apparently because I can't find it in the so called online cams manual.
what's happened to the book? I notice its still got 500 pages of pretty glossy photos of the punces running the show.
get your stupid mugs out of the book and put the regulaions in it.

ok. found some regulations that say we need balaclavas. Karen simply won't wear one because she gets claustrophobic.
so that's us out.
bye bye.
ric, if you're watching, can you please withdraw my entry for Lithgow. edit: nah. don't do that. we'll go shopping tomorrow to see if we can find some stupid balaclava to please some idiot somewhere who actually thinks that mandating this crap helps anyone. It'll all depend on whether Karen feels comfortable in it.
if we turn up to scrutineering tomorrow night, then we're coming I guess.

You can get balaclavas which don't cover the face.... which when wearing a helmet like a Peltor which has a chinstrap lining, really don't offer much more protection. A helmet, by definition can be classified as a balaclava... but by CAMS definition it isn't... I think they have the word "seperate" or something in the rules.
But yeah, I see your point. It's getting harder to rally, and it's only gunna get worse. The future is either get the gear... or go to AMSAG.
It's a shame you can't run Matt.

A little birdie told me that hans devices will be compulsory after 2010.
what's going to happen to the sport is what's happened to targa events. retired QC's and plastic surgeons with too much money and not a scrap of ability driving $200,000 cars. And they'll kill themselves every other weekend.
the rest of us will be doing amsag.

You can get the open face balaclavas from motorsport places (Revolution, Speedzone etc.) or on the net. Same places as you get your suit or gloves. They don't look much open face in the ads but as long as they're not just eyehole ones you can open up the face hole pretty good.

Matt I must say I was a sceptic about balaclavas when I first had to get one (don't like full face helmets either) but they actually keep you cool in the helmet and stop a lot of the sweating against the inside surface of most helmets.
Not saying they should be compulsary but I certainly found that that specific item is quite good. I also open mine up quite a bit and got used to it really quickly and infact when I left mine at home testing one day I felt really uncomfortable without it.
I think (and hope) you'll actually be pleasantly surprised, well untill it shows up on the credit card bill anyway!

Never thought of the 'sweat factor' I hope you're right. Not thinking too much about the $ at this stage. you steel to it after a while. It's cost me over $3000 so far this year and it hasn't turned a wheel. (at all - literally. since the bay its driven on and off the trailer twice) tomorrow we need 1 pair of gloves, 2 balaclavae, and a pair of driving boots for Karen.
by the time we get to lithgow we'll pushing $5k for the year. If the diff breaks on the start line of SS1 like it did in Bega the year before last I WILL burn it. BYO marshmallows.

Matt on the Balaclava front make sure you buy a seamless one. It has a really flat seem that won't annoy the top of your head. If not just a flat floded seem one.
Mine is a sparco brand but anything that has a nice seem and an open face.

that's not a bad idea at all. is K 5000? hmm. i wish. then I wouldn;t be so scared of commodores.
We bought our baklavas today. they taste yummy, but I really do doubt their effectiveness in a fire.
Actually the cost was a pleasant surprise. I was expecting more. As long as karen doesn't have a big freak out and start eating the seats we'll be ok.
