Graham Fountain has been appointed as the new Chief Executive Officer of the CAMS. CAMS announced today that Fountain will commence his new position on the 18th of June 2007. CAMS President Colin Osborne said that an extensive search had been undertaken and was delighted to secure such an extremely well qualified new CEO to lead CAMS into the future.

Dont you just love it when people say that - as if they would say - well the talent pool was crap, and this blokes barley functional but he is better than the rest.

"Graham comes to CAMS following many years of service with Victoria's Country Fire Authority (CFA) in a diverse range of senior operation and management positions including his most recent role as Deputy Chief Officer where he was responsible for managing the Emergency Management portfolio.

That could be a bit positive - Public sector background in an area akin to our discipline.

"The CAMS brand is something of which all members and stakeholders should be incredibly proud to be associated with, and this will be one of my major focuses during my tenure at CAMS.”

First lesson young graham - ITS NOT A BRAND - Its a CONFEDERATION - CAMS exists purely to implement the wishes of the member clubs.

Any way - best of luck. With the greatest of respect you wont have to do too much to be better than Rob and Peter.

Oh - and thanks for not using the phrase "going forward" in your release.

From what I know of Graham (having worked in the same organisation until 10 days ago !) he's a good bloke & a good operator.

A positive move for us, I believe.

He should find that managing the different viewpoints between the volunteers/members & the staff/policymakers in CAMS will be a piece of cake after CFA !

I know Graham from the CFA as well, and have always found him to be a good bloke - he certainly is prepared to listen to view points from several different angles before making a decision. Some people within the CFA have had a lot to say against Graham due to the fact that he rose up through the ranks very quickly and made Deputy Chief at a relatively young age - but they obviously didn't understand the concept of "Best person for the job".

Absolutely!!! Somehow I can't see Graham shedding tears at the thought of no more involvement in CFA career firefighter EBA negotiations

I hope he goes well. The CFA is in many respects is just like CAMS. His experience at putting out bushfires should be handy and he might be able to get us some cheaper fire gear!
