Monte....
I love this event, even though I've never been there. The history, and the fact that it's really like about four surfaces in the one event...Anyway, my second favourite car in the world (Citroen Xsara WRC) is leading at Stage 4, with Sebastien Loeb behind the wheel. This kid must be mega-talented to be leading a WRC, even if the Citroen's are absolute weapons....
Tommi is 5.3 seconds behind Loeb at the moment. Obviously the Suby isn't too bad, 'cause he's second at the moment, in his first event in the car....Looks my prediction for Tommi too kick some butt in the champioinship this year is lookin' good....

Loeb does Leg One....
This kid's a ninja...Leading Tommi Makinen at Monte Carlo by 36 seconds. Not a bad effort
So the leaderboard at the end of Leg One goes
Loeb/Elena - Citroen Xsara
Makinen/Lindstrom - Subaru WRC
C. McRae/Grist - Ford Focus
Gronholm/Rautainen - Peugeot 206
Sainz/Moya - Ford Focus
Solberg/Mills - Subaru WRC
Burns is the next one down the leaderboard, but it's hard to draw any real conclusions from that. My gut feeling is that while the Peugeot 206 WRC is the sexiest looking WRC out there, I don't think it's as easy to drive as the Subaru. I think it's faster, but requires more balance, and probably more commitment. 'Course, all I'm basing this feeling on is what's said by drivers, how the cars look in the footage I see, and my "analysis" of results....
As for sleep, ahh, who needs it....Just a waste of productive hours. Although it is a pain that I'm the only one who wants to do stuff at 2:30 in the morning.....
Appliance EvoIII will be built slowly but thoroughly......Well, maybe just slowly

Fro - if you want company at 2am go see the Webbs I've often had to forcibly remove Bernie from my garage and firmly lock the door after 1am and I'm sure the people living in Simons street love Bernie belting steel with a hammer in wee small hours
PS My prediction for this year is Richard, I think he's the most consistant of them even if he's not necessaraly the fastest. On the other hand Carlos is always there slogging away I wouldn't discount him eather - Tommy? well, win or lose, the man should be shot for being a traitor

Loeb now second...
Yesterday, Citroen Sport dropped their appeal against the two minute penalty applied for changing tyres outside of designated service point for the changing of tyres....
So, this means that Tommi Makinen wins his first WRC round with Subaru. I really think that it's going to be pretty difficult for anyone to really challenge him for the title this year....Superior driver in a superior car.....Hard to beat....
