The LCCC is running a small rally on Saturday 9th February 2008 out in East/West - pending approvals from the relevant authorities. It is called the Blue Range Rally.
Start, Finish, Results, Service Park, Transports, Refuel and Rally HQ are all based off Blue Range Road so transport length is about 1.5km total and 67.50km competitive distance, across six stages, which is two stages repeated three times. You can therefore self service easily. The entry fee is set at $185. If entries go swimmingly well, we'll pour some of the money back into prize money or bigger trophies.
There is the option of pacenoting with a two hour window for recce in the morning of the event. The event is also allowing cars to be double entered with multiple navigators - pending approvals from the relevant authorities. There will be a prize for the
quickest time for the double entered car - there's an award that needs a snappy name! - as an incentive.
There's room for 45 cars or entries so to speak. First car starts at 12.25pm and the same car finishes at about 6.20pm so it will all be run in daylight.
Scrutineering will be only on Friday night at Solartint Woden for all ACT competitors with a small window first thing on Saturday morning for people from over the border.
The best, smoothest roads have been chosen in the area so hopefully it'll be a fun punt along, especially up and down Sherwood... Service Crew can also walk down to watch the cars start so there should be something for them to do as well.
Sponsorship-wise, there aren't any sponsors - I haven't been actively seeking any yet - so I'm open to bids by telephone or e-mail. If you want to sponsor a stage, leg or naming rights feel free to send me an e-mail....
I'd also like to auction off the front page of the roadbook with a photo of someone's choice, as long as it is in the interests of the sport. Minimum bid is $50 to get your photo on the front cover of all the roadbooks in colour...

Don't make me do an
montage, if you want time to go fast you need a montaaaaagggggeeeeee....
So if you're interested in any of our
commercial opportunities feel free to e-mail me at mark.sessions AT converga.com.au upto the 31 December 2007.
This is an opportunity for people to conduct some pre-season testing, or take a mate's car for a drive, or get in the nav seat and see how your mate drive's or learn to nav. It should be a relaxed affair in line with the standard
modus operandi and
espirit d' corps of such events like Skdac's Mini-dulla and BMSC's FNS.
Oh, and here's the official
Letter to Competitors from inside the Supp. Regs. Not many Official positions other than 00 (Marty H) and 0 (Ray Day) have been filled so if you want to step up to a Stage Commander job or assistant Stage Commander, give the club a call.
More details to come once I've got the official paperwork submitted in the next week or so...
A big thanks to Jamar for the use of their car just after we racked up a thousand odd km's on it for the Corsa! If anyone finds a mudflap out in East/West please give it back to Jason or Marla!!!!
Thanks,

~ Letter to Competitors ~
“And now for something completely different…”
Welcome to the inaugural running of the Blue Range Rally for the Light Car Club of Canberra. The purpose of this event is to give crews a chance to shakedown their car for the beginning of the year. Blow the cobwebs out of their engines, maybe train a new navigator, see how a friend drives or drive a friends car. It could also be an opportunity to practise or learn pacenoting. Or quite simply a chance to race the clock and yourself.
Organisationally, the Event is small in manpower, administrative overhead and competitive distance. Hopefully, this will assist in allowing more small events happen more frequently as people see how easy they are to run. It follows in the same vein as the BMSC Friday Night Specials and SKDAC’s MiniDulla events. The Blue Range Rally hopefully offers the same budget conscious entry fee and low BS approach. The Event still has a unique LCCC flavour to it with double entered crews and pacenotes allowed.
Consequently, there will be some large waiting periods of up to two hours, at the Service Park while everyone has the chance to run. For the serious competitor, this will allow plenty of time to track down any issues while it will allow other competitors to swap drivers and compete. There are six stages all up consisting of two stages repeated three times. Total competitive distance is around 67kms. Transport distance are under 500 metres between stages. The distance is kept down to allow all double entered crews to cycle quickly through the stages. The Entry Fee is $185. If we get good entry numbers we will endeavour to pour some of the financial benefits back into trophies and prizes.
The roads that I have chosen are some of the best roads in the area and I’ve tried to avoid rough roads as much as possible to keep competitors and their cars happy. I’ve always loved running on these roads and they are the closest thing we’ve got to great roads like Warks, Champagnes and Bullocks Paddock. Running up and down ‘Sherwood Road’ should hopefully be very rewarding. The ‘Brain’ is also in a well maintained, freshly graded state.
The Service Park is very close to Rally HQ and the start of the first stage and the finish of the second stage. The Service Park is literally Blue Range Road that is quite wide. I ask you to keep the Servicing on the right hand (eastern) side of the road upon arrival, to allow traffic to stay on the left. Of course, you can self service as the servicing will not be moving. Please keep an eye out for competitors and pedestrians alike and keep the speeds down for everyone’s safety.
Please consider the Blue Range Rally as a fun, low stress way to start off your season or a chance to just get back in the car and have a punt. I would also like to thank Solartint Woden for the use of their premises for Scrutineering on Friday night.
Thanks.
