That is a nice list…
To be honest, I just wish we could all play in the same sandbox - the greater the depth of competition the better for the sport and the competitors. Posting a list of who has registered Interest in a particular Rally Organising/Insurance Group does nothing for the sport IMO. It just says that most of the people on the list just want good events to run in, it doesn’t say they prefer AASA to CAMS to AMSAG to whomever or want to join one group over any other…
Is this really necessary on this site? Surely AASA should (or does) have their own site on which you can register your interest.

I've told you before Bede, you need to stop making sense.

I had to drop by the AMAG site to actually figure out what it was an interest list for. It's for the Bathurst RSL Rally.
I'm confused. Sorry, but I genuinely am. I'll probably get banned for this, but the Supp Regs for the Bathurst RSL event mention in vehicle eligibility "AASA rules for modern class is on website www.amsag.com.au". Er, where? Can someone give me the link please as I'm interested to see these regs.
Also, who's insuring this event? The supp regs are very light on, but mentions AMSAG Inc. as being the promoter. Is this running under AMSAG's deal, or are AASA underwriting it? If the former, then am I right to say that this is just a ACT Series style setup where we select a few existing events, call it a series, and go and buy some trophies?
Supp regs also state you have to be a member of AMSAG to run the event. No prob with that. But doesn't that mean you have to join AMSAG to compete in the Norwegian Blue ARC?
I'll head off and create a new account now in the expectation of Spac terminating this one forthwith.

Rather than crap on more about it here... there is an attempt at an explanation in this http://www.bmsc.com.au/forums/showpost.php?p=167553&postcount=3 thats a part of this other thread.
Cheers

great list
Good list jamie, I would include eddie on it as well also, andrew crowley, catherine birmingham.
I guess jamie is just pointing out the interested parties, but there are a lot more people than just this list.

It is a good list.... I like lists.... I've got a few lists of my own.... I've got a list of stuff i need to pack so I can go racing this weekend.... I've got a list of stuff I'd like to do to my car so I can go racing this weekend.... Some might call it my wish list.... Truth be told though just because I have a list doesn't mean everything on it will actually make it's way onto my car or into my bag for the weekend the racing happens....

I posted the list because it's of interest to me, and most likely a number of people on these forums.
I don't doubt that this AASA thing still has issues, and I'm not 100% convinced myself that it is what we need as a sport, but hey- it's relevant.
KW- I believe the event is being run under AMSAG insurance. Again I'm not in the official loop, but it's what I've been told by someone who should know.
I can't see anything 'major' change in the way AMSAG has gone about their business with this event. It looks like just another AMSAG event, with an AASA hype tagged onto it.
The thing is that this event has made people aware and interested in non-CAMS rallying. I think that is good- they need a shake up.

I'm genuinely curious why AMSAG needs AASA or CAMS if it does it's own insurance.

The way I see it AMSAG doesn't need the AASA... Quite the reverse... AMSAG has and will continue to thrive without all the mystery surrounding the AASA.... What the AASA needs is events and the logical path was to tack onto an established, well regarded series that had no affiliation with CAMS.... Just my take on it....

FWIW that's my take on the situation also.
What does the AASA bring to the AMSAG table that it already hasn't got other than the involvement in a National Rally Championship that to date doesn't have a published set of sporting regulations?
Also, just out of curiosity, how does one register their EOI for the AMSAG Bathurst Rally, it's a fairly impressive list, but I see no access to register, other than with a paid up entry, on the web site.

Who gives a rats tosser if it is AASA? It surely is a rally first and foremost I think who ever started this post is just trying to provoke people and perpetuate a split that is only in the narrow minds of those that do this.
Using a persons name because they expressed an interest in a rally in some kind of warped point scoring exercise is totally unfair and I imagine is not what people expressing an interest would have expected the information they gave would have been used for. In fact there is probably a case for some of them to take the miss-use of their personal information in this way a bit further if they wanted. Why isn't the title of this post Bathurst Rally Expressions of Interest received like every other rally there has ever been? Next we will have posts CAMS Competitor Interest List that would go on for several pages but what does it prove and who really cares anyway? Wished some of you AASA tossers who start this stuff (as opposed to the AASA people who just get on with it an organise rallies) would just get on with it finally publish what we have all been asking for, instead of useless lists that in the end prove and mean nothing. How many manufacturers are represented? how many top flight rally cars? Where are our modern heroes in this list???

Whatever do you mean John? Is this some allusion to the Highland Games? ( I do hope so, as this is such a nice place!)
