Well, nearly every club in every state is represented on the relevant State Council - or should be !
It's just a matter of getting enough clubs along to SC meeting to vote, and insist that your elected Director to take the SC's position to the Board & vote accordingly. If they refuse to do so, then I reckon you have elected the wrong person to the Board !
Do most clubs in NSW/ACT regularly send a rep to SC meetings, to represent the views of their club ? Or does apathy reign ? If so, I guess the old adage "you get the government you deserve" applies ....
Start lobbying the clubs in your state !!

Hear hear Dave!
With the Victorian State Council proposals, as you pointed out, reportedly gaining an excellent level of support at State Councils all around Australia, you are absolutely correct that as many people/clubs/supporters as possible need to get into their ears of each of OUR Elected Directors in order these Directors can very clearly understand that the proposal is the will of the people for, amongst other things, ensuring that OUR CAMS remains OUR CAMS.
In all probability, the elected Directors will each come under significant pressure from some quarters (i.e. the current appointed (NON-elected) Directors) to ignore the will of their State Councils and constiuent car clubs/members and instead kowtow to the continued plan to steal CAMS away from its traditional car club membership base.
The likelihood of such pressure being placed on them is why it is SO important that OUR Elected Directors are left in no doubt that if they ignore the will of the constituent membership, then they do so at their peril.
With OR2 and the apparent arrogance that CAMS at senior levels seems to be adopting that, in spite of the views of the wider membership, they can simply plough whatever changes they want through, then the co-ordinated State Council proposals may well be the last chance opportunity for our constituent clubs to make sure that CAMS isn't completely remodelled to something whereby none of us will be able to have any effective say at all?
If any need information as to how to contact your Elected Director, some limited contact details can be found here, or if all else fails send me a PM and I will seek out some alternate or more direct contact information for you.
Good luck and in anticipation of some great support coming from the many passionate supporters of clubs and the club constituent basis of ownership of OUR Confederation that contribute to these pages...
..... THANKS
Cheers
David

The peasants are finally starting to rise up in revolt.
You may hear an argument from the Directors that they don't have to do what the State Councils tell them, that they simply must act in accordance with the responsibilities under the Corporations Act. There may be some truth to that, Mr kelly will no doubt be able to provide further advice. However should the elected Directors adopt this approach they should be reminded of their duty under under the Corporations ACt at:
Section 180 - A director or other officer of a corporation must exercise their powers and discharge their duties:
(a) in good faith in the best interests of the corporation; and
(b) for a proper purpose.
(Most of the Directors only seem to quote the last part of 1 (a) and forget the good faith and proper purpose provisions. A proper purpose in this case may be a purpose that accords with the constitutional aims of the CAMS.)
Ultimately they should be reminded that they may not have to "do as Directed" but if they fail to reprsent the wishes of their electors then then shouldn't be suprised if they are dismissed.
Get active with you clubs state council rep, get active and contact your elected director directly, do what you need to do.
