Is this all you would need.

No meeting coming up. Maybe just fax or send the membership form with the entry, and pay both together. There are bank details on the entry form for funds transfer (that's how most seem to pay), or send a cheque, pay cash at scrutineering or doco...
A hand-held UHF is fine.

scruitineering question
Jamie,
What's the story for competitors that aren't located anywhere near the compulsory venues you have selected for scrutineering ?
The nearest one to me, that's listed in the sup regs, is almost 3 hours away....
Is there any type of "regional scruitineering" arrangement for Amsag events ?

Claude,
I do the Bathurst cars so I could do it on the day or on the friday night before.
But rest assured if your rex is faster than mine in the rally I will post knock you back for something silly like lettering being too big in your name on the window or the like!!!
Gareth

Cool...Thanks Gareth.
Do we need to "formally" arrange anything.....or just give you a call and organise it a few days before the event ?

Don't worry about Claudes car, by the end of the event it will probably only be a 2speed and you can catch him from there

I think I wrote somewhere in the regs to call me if you can't make the regional venues.
It's not an issue at all, we will just come to some arrangement like Gareth has suggested.
Many of our scrutineers like Gareth, Mick, Robbo, William etc, compete themselves or have a direct involvement in the event, so the culture we are trying to promote is that we get all that type of thing done before the event. This allows them to concentrate on their own entry at the rally, and not other peoples problems.
As the expands we will "deputise" more and more scrutineers in different areas I guess, but even still there will always be a few boys getting scrutineered at the event. A handful is manageable... 60 is a pain.
If you need to be scrutineered at the event give me a call and I'll arrange it... or let me know whats happening if you set it up yourself (ie Gareth)
The aim of all this isn't to make it difficult for competitors, the opposite actually. It's trying to make the event easier, relaxed and social. The night before a rally is quality drinking time- why would you want to be doing scrutineering? Many of the AMSAG regulars will be at the RSL holding a schooner and arguing over who's getting the last mini-spring roll left on the complimentry hot food platter.
It will be good to see you run mate... got about 10 entries already I believe, and a few more I know of.

Very likely that you will receive an entry from Jack Wightman and myself shortly. Spoke to Jack this morning and he is keen to get some more events under his belt after his return at the SMR on the weekend...

A bit of an update, and a bump.
a) entries- are flowing in and the town seems to be filling up, so if you planning on running - get your entry in. The event works well with up to 60 cars, if we get over that then I'll need to re-jig a few things in the schedule.
b) radio comms- checked the entire course with a few of the boys yesterday and the radio comms are excellent. 95% of the course is in direct contact with Rally HQ on a 5w radio, and the other 5% can be repeated. On the day the furthest a competitor will travel without passing a radio point will be approx 5km's.
c) FIV's/Safety- FIV's are provide by MSR, we have designated fast sweep vehicles at the back of the field. Nothing new here.
d) Food- the dining room is quite small (seats 50), so with a larger field expected we have organised a Smorgasboard in the Auditorium after the rally to cater for those who are hungry. Jo Batt will have her food van out the service point, and will also provide officials lunch at no cost to themselves. (She'll bill me) There is nothing worse than being hungry at a rally, or not getting a feed after it. I think we have this covered.
e) Police Radar- Mahoney has organsied for a patrol car to show up and speed test the field at a given point. We will have a few awards for the fastest in a few categories and maybe even the slowest.
f) Officials- keep getting in contact with me.
g) Punctures- I still haven't got one!!! But I must admit one of the boys did get a puncture yesterday on a transport.

Saturday morning is a big ask. I just don't have anyone available to do it as they are either a) competing themselves or b) in the forest setting up.
Friday night we can work with (reluctantly)... but really there are no provisions for scrutineering at the event. I'm not wanting to do the Saturday morning thing, it's just too close to the start of the event and not the culture we are trying to promote in AMSAG.
What about any other time in the week or so leading up to the event? Can you get the car to either Rallyequip or Mick King Auto (or to anyone else)- anytime? This is more workable than Saturday morning.
Where is the car? We will still be a scrutineering on the Monday at Mick Kings quite late. There are a million entries.
