You want ARC points, you register for ARC and pay the money, you want to mix it with the fastest guys in the country, you enter the event!!! Wouldn't it be great if life was just that easy!!! One event, one set of results, two sets of point allocations... no different to clubman and state together if you ask me!!!

Quoted for truth.
But hey, we've been grizzling about this for years, and there's always some pits-lame excuse.

So what's the chance of Neal Bates taking maximum NSW Champion points... he'd be elligible...

Somehow I don't think he will enact Article5.2 from the ARC regs
"5.2 As a round of the NSW State Rally Championship, only drivers and/or co-drivers who nominate at the time of entry will be eligible for points in the NSW State Rally Championship."
Hey but I've been wrong many times....

Call me dumb but I can't see an entry form anywhere, is that right?
Also the regs mention an "allcomers" event with separate regs but no indication of entry fee
Cheers Mick

I agree it's 5hit, but how is an ARC regular scoring State points (say Guesty) any different to a state guy (any driver Grade 3 or less) scoring clubman points while contesting the State? The 2nd scenario is far more likely to occur, and in greater numbers next year now that the NSWRP has paved the way for combined events.
It seems to me that you can't have your cake and eat it too. Combined events/series will always throw up these scenario's. That's why it's a good idea IMO for the State events to be just State and for Clubman to be just Clubman.
But we all know that ARC directors want the State entries to prop up their fields, and that State directors want Clubman entries to prop up there fields...
It's all just crap to be honest. The fast state guys will drive straight into the back of the ARC field. Road position will be crucial. The event won't be fair, and other than a few decent people... no-one will care. The ARC sporting director will be all over anything to do with the factory cars, but the NSW competitors won't get consideration.
The bottom line is- if you have aspirations in the NSWRC then pay the higher entry fee. The extra money will give you a better chance.

No you didn't Ray... they were 'letting' you run at the back of the field. You were given 'special' consideration which allowed you to compete on the same roads as 'important' competitors. You should be thankful.
Seriously- that's how some of these clowns see it.
Been thinking about this a lot cause I wanna do a few ARC's next year... I've got a bad attitude towards most things ARC, but the Coffs organisers can only do so much with the cards they have been dealt.
They are giving competitors options. They are trying to cater for the NSWRC, and it is a chance to run against some strong competition on notes. All things considered they are trying to offer NSW competitors something.
Generally, the war isn't with the individual event organisers- it's with the people associated with the series. There is little, or no consideration given to anyone other than the 'main game' competitors. That's the reality.
It costs $2300 dollars to enter the rally. The $505 'lets you' run on the same roads providing you stay out of the way. Which do you want to purchase?
Personally, I can't buy the $505 option. I was planning to run if I had a g/box and would have paid $2300- or stayed home.

Seems I'm getting a case of deja vu here, there were forums battling similar issue's about 16 months ago.
I assume (yes the mother of all **** up's) that if things keep going on the way they are, then it will end up like the the Darling Harbour ARC, Bathurst ARC, Great Lakes Rally ARC ..... not continuing on the next year, seems to be a growing trend to bag nsw ARC rounds ... now Coffs Harbour seems to be on the list as well!
What the hell is going on here?
It's one event in our state a year, we should support it!
I'm guessing when WRC comes to the far north coast everyone will be keen as mustard to help out or go spectate or support it in one way or another .......... there is a big gap between State and WRC & if we don't get a round of ARC we are going to look kinda silly, considering we are the biggest populated state in OZ!
Maybe the people voicing opinions should step up to the plate together and run an ARC how they think it should be run!
I understand completely, that there is some regular competitors out there, that are having genuine issues with the ARC / CAMS / NSWRC Scoring ...... but how many here are competing, and / or how many rang the director and brought these issues up!
Now I'll wait for the bullets so i can dodge!

If you're not in championship contention and can't take the week off to do the Thursday pace noting, you could always make the journey from Canberra 3 hours shorter and come to Victoria for the last round of the Victorian Rally Chgampionship - the Racer Industries Melbourne AKADEMOS Rally.
Based out of ALEXANDRA, the event comprises Recce on Saturday [3 passes] and competition Sunday - with the last car finished by 5:30 pm.
Supp Regs etc available from vicrally.com.au - click on the event name in the calendar.

Have you noticed that the current 'provisional' ARC calendar for 2009 has the 4-5 of July marked simply as NSW Round. No mention of Coffs Harbour or any where.
