Not official yet but Subaru may be pulling out of the event due to the world financial crisis.

I'd prefer to hear it from the butcher, not the block.

That is the way it used to happen.

I guess this whole global slow down is a great excuse for Subaru after making a mess out of the wrx road car... "oh our ugly lame car that used to be a hero didnt sell becuase of the world economy"
Now is CA contracted to prodrive, Subaru or the SWRT?

IF this is true (and big doubts there) then the reason for a pullout will be the global crunch.... but that's not the true reason I bet. The truth would be that Subaru just dont have a car that can do the 2010 WRC rules. 2010 cars are based on S2000
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/13/w...r-2010-season/
And you have to ask, how on earth are Subaru going to use the control gearbox?

As buggered up as the 08 was, the 09 is a far improved car and you can have it in a sedan that doesnt look too bad. The bang for buck is insane as the 09 is considerably faster.

I think devastated is term to describe the way I feel after this announcement.
Subaru is rallying and rallying is Subaru.
I consoled myself after they pulled out of Oz rallying that at least they were still in the WRC, but now I have nowhere to turn.

Yep its official. No Subaru, Solberg and Atko out of jobs. Also no B-Team either. 2009 WRC has gone from being immensely exciting to a non event. Reconsidering trip to NSW now.

I initially thought that Subaru (Fuji Heavy industries) might withdraw funding, but Prodrive would run 2009.
but the way Dave Richards is talking in the pressrelease about redeploying rally staff to the other parts of the business... makes me think that's that...
CA might just be packing up his Monarco flat and flying home... (unless Ford C team throws him a life line)..
Wonder now if Citroen are thinking to themselves "Us V Ford? why bother..."
We've also got Ford in the US up the creek without a paddle... if they go under one can only assume that M-Sport will have to pull out as well...
ahh.. tough times for alll it sems..

The rally program though is paid for by Ford of Europe, who actually, make money.... plus they could always ask their cash rich other sponsor for some more money in exchange for another middle eastern driver...
Now Dave Richards runs Aston Martin, can we seen an S2000 car from the maybe an Aston Martin DB2, or that Prodrive P2 they made...

i know not of these things but is Ford Europe and Ford US (and for that matter Ford Aust) separate entities without any financial ties?
