Wakefield Park 6 Hour regularity - Supersprint cars eligible
Hi Everyone,
Wakefield Park will conduct a new event in 2009 called the Wakefield 6 Hour Regularity. The concept of this event has been very popular in Victoria and SA with oversubscribed grids at the events. The event is being held on the 7th and 8th of March.
The Six Hour Regularity differs from the traditional 6 Hour race in that it is not an outright race and people can compete on a minimum licences of a AASA (Wakefield) Club Licences or CAMS L2S and can be done it street cars, track cars or race cars.
It has been a great way for clubs and groups of racers to team up with mates and have a fun weekend of motorsport.
This year’s Phillip Island event had a full grid of 50 teams and the Winton event this year also had a full grid of around 40 teams. You can check the Natsoft results below to see what type of cars have been running in this event.

The Wakefield event will have a grid capacity of 36 teams which would be amazing if NSW could emulate the Victorian events and have a full grid in its first year.
The entry fee is $1,500 which includes up to 6 drivers/6 cars (minimum of 3 drivers/2 cars) a pit lane Garage and timing transmitters for all of the cars in the team.
There are minimum and maximum lap times and competitors must fall between the two for the event so the speed difference is not too great.
Min lap time: 1min 5 sec
Max lap time: 1min 25 sec
For entry forms, or regulations head to Wakefield Park
I already have 2 teams entered myself, I compete every year in the Winton event and it is so much fun. I look forward to a little friendly rivalry!!
Cheers
Adam

I have also competed in the Winton event, they are fantastic, you run against the clock, not against other competitors, and it is very much a team event.
Good Luck Adam, maybe we will see you next year when our car is back on the track.

ROC would present a difficult decision to make, but these events are fantastic. Be sure to read the rules very carefully [scoring] if your team would like to win, because the Porsche teams certainly will have!!!
Easiest way is it see how fast you are content to drive, then drive that way all day. Then judge your day from the width of your smile rather than your position in the field. With any luck it will rain at some stage during the day and you can then recognise the rally vs track drivers by the amount of opposite lock the driver is happy [loving it actually] to use at every opportunity.

Interesting you say that Peter, they appeared at last years 6 Hour at Winton and filled most of the podium spots, very interesting.
I am sure they wouldn't run passive/active timing devices as that would be against the sub-regs.

They wouldn't have red and green light displays above their garages either would they - but surely that only meant green keep going, red come in and change cars next lap.
One tip for regularity scoring: If the "change over lap" is ignored [doesn't get credited to your lap count/doesn't get included in your regularityfactor] when calculating a cars regularity, then if you have a half spin/off you should come in to the pits and change cars immediately so that the extra long lap time doesn't adversely affect your regularity.
On safety: one rule I really did like in the Winton Regularity Regs was the banning of drivers from refueling a car while wearing their driving suit. Sounds like a pretty good rule in any form of motorsport really. Not sure how much protection a mega-buck, triple layer, fireproof driving suit offers if it is impregnated with petrol residue from the slight spillage you had during the last refuel stop.

It is interesting to know that others thought "things" were not quite right, I do know for a fact that issues were raised with the Clerk of Course about the Mustangs doing "strange things" as well.

Yes, we worked that out after the '08 event and will be doing that this year.

A lot of people don't wear / are not required to wear race suits, so it is a damn fine idea, we actually had a mechanic friend who did that for us.

I think the Supp Reg may have gone as far as to say you were not allowed to wear the [outer?] clothing you planned to wear while driving, while you were refueling. So you couldn't even head on to the track with your petrol soaked jeans either.
As you suggest, it inspires you to get some friends to get involved with that sort of thing - or bring a second set of clothes to wear while refueling.

We have alot of fun with it, we try to get serious with the outcome, but remain focused on having fun.
