Entry confirmed and car 95% ready. Should be fun.

They usually start around nineish.
The heat should be fun. Brakes and such will come up to temp fairly quickly. Not so much fun for those in racesuits.

Car's ready. Even made a temprary new cold air intake, and intercooler spray to cope with the heat better.
Tyres and brakes a pretty basic so mine don't need much temp.

Would be interesting to find what track temps are registered through the day.
I'll try and be out for a look... might take the histowreck rx2 out for a cruise. Good test for the new radiator.
Its looking like being a pig of a day with these temps. Wonder if they will bin the meet if there is a total fire ban?

it was an interesting day with the new Eco rules being used.
it was hard to watch, but a 3 wheel pushie did a lap, i didn't think he was going to make it up the hill.
there was a few stops and starts for the heat but everyone looked like they were having fun,

Yeah it was painful to watch, he said later that he was in the lowest gear all the way up and it just kept getting slower/steeper and harder to peddle.
But he now hold the Alternative fuels class record.
The Charade ran well all event, and I only found the dirt twice, It was a good day even with the heat, no politics just a heap of people in a wide variety of cars enjoying to basic motorsport.
That track is pretty challenging when you only get one go at a time then a big break and then run again, getting lap times down is going to be hard, but for the value of it I may get a bit more serious and join the club to run the full season this year.

Andrew,
what times did you get down to? 59 on the first run did it better or worse as the day went on? (thinking the heat factor)

57.81 with a 15ish split. my best split was 14.81.
I just couldn't quite string all my good corners together in one run, and didn't have the balls to hold it flat where I should.
The car is very taily too, hopefully the boys at Capital steering can help tune that out when the car gets aligned.
That's enough excuses

Seemed like a good day. Not many cars, just very hot.
The 'future tourer' or whatever the bike engined thingy was looked the goods with the shell removed. Sounded nice as well.
Hopefully Phil didn't damage the 'trojan' too badly - I didn't see it after it returned. I overheard a comment that he had just about sold it.

I'm not completely sure, they are new for this year and currently allowed a three wheeled recumbent pushbike to enter. The officals assumed it had an electric motor. But it didn't and after re-reading the rules they were unable to deny the human powered entry.
I heard discussion that the rules would be changed ASAP to ban human-powered vehicles. I think the aim is to show the sport/club as being progessive and enviromentally responsible

The new 'Type' will be for Electric and/or Alternate energy powered vehicles.
This move will put the SDMA at the forefront of motorsport clubs in encouraging the use of 'green' vehicles. Details of the 'Classes' within the 'Type', and how such vehicles will be classified, are still being developed but will be available before the Season commences.

I think they intended motor vehicles.... not pushies...
