Bega Valley Motors Rally news

The new Bega Valley Motors Rally website is now on-line.

Includes overview of the event stages and schedule plus key information-at-a-glance for intending competitors. There is also Part of 1 of the History of the Bega Valley Rally (from 1968 to 1975) which features a fascinating account of the key characters and events of the period along with past results, ARC rounds/results and more than a few photos.

Two video compilations from the Bega 2007 event plus Part 2 of the Bega History will be posted on the site shortly.

Finally, Supplementary Regulations for the event are due for release shortly, with entries opening on 20 April. Officials will also be able to register on-line soon so they can start thinking about their favourite Bega role and/or location.

As mentioned in the Front Page News, Tom Snooks visited Canberra yesterday, and Winton Brocklebank and I had a good meeting with him last night. Preparation for Bega 2009 is coming along well (the proposed course is on the Bega Valley Rally website, and looks like an excellent day+evening's fun - all the old favourites!)

It was particularly good to hear that there is great enthusiasm within the Bega business community for the rally's return.

Tom is also looking at options for increasing the amount of competitive distance for 2010 onwards, so it looks like Bega will become bigger and better than we have experienced in the recent past.

Bega will continue to be partially dependent on manpower support from the ACT region. Consequently we also discussed options for changing the relationship with control officials and other road officials from the usual "wham - bang - thank you ma'am" system. We believe we need to develop and sustain an ongoing relationship with helpers throughout the year, and from one year to the next, much as with Begas (and Southern Crosses) in the distant past.

Can I just point out Supp regs are already on the bega website for those interested.

Is it just me or do the photos/captions for the respective state champions need to be swapped on the cover of the supp. regs?

Edit: Had another look at Supp Regs cover..........caption has Darren Windus as State Rally Champion.
Mark Fawcett was 2008 Vic Rally Champion, I believe.

Yes it does, the PCD Engineering logo is even on the cover. Or are you sooking because they didn't put YOU on the cover? I guess they wanted photos of quick drivers on there

I was still in "Roser" mode in his dislike for the ACT Series.

Doesn't bother me but just would have thought that it being a round of the ACT championship then the previous ACT Champ should have been on there too.

As I said to Stuart, Something to remember next year...
