Scrutineers Needed - Aust M/K Championship
I've put my hand up to be the chief scrutineer at the Australian Motorkhana Championship to be held on the October long weekend (3-4 Oct) at Quakers Hill (Nirimba).
I'm looking to put together a team of 6 people, so we can get through the cars quickly.
All the hard work will be on the Saturday afternoon (maybe start late morning), so it'll leave you free to do other things for the rest of the weekend if needed.
I'd prefer:
1-2 more Bronze Scrutineer (already have myself and one "maybe")
3 General Official with a desire to become a Bronze Scrut
Let me know if you're interested.
Thanks
Andrew

Hi Andrew,
I'll be competing , but I'm happy to help out on Saturday.
I'm a Bronze (licence colour, not skin colour ) Scrutineer too, if that helps.

Andrew,
You have PM. Like Fly I am also competing, but keen to practice a bit on Saturday as I haven't driven at Nirimba for a long time.

I'd like to compete, but that might require more time than I have available.
Andrew, I'll send you a PM.

Slightly longer answer...possibly, but it would require a single entry, a car breakage during the event, then swap to the other car/class. Your results would have to be in the "faster" class for all tests.
What I think you were asking was whether you can compete in both cars all day. If so, see Fly's response.
Oh, and I'll be there all day on the Sunday. Make sure you line it up with the organisers in advance (I think the regs will say something about prior notification), and make sure you're there early.

This is a motorkhana, so no [should be the answer] a bit like a circuit racing used to be [before targeted scrutiny].
For example it is a bit hard to check that the wheel nuts are tight, the boot and cabin are both empty and you have approved tyres fitted until you actually are at the meeting.
Also, since it is the Australian Championship, I am not too sure competitors are able to also be scrutineers. I think scrutineers can only also compete at club level competiton.

Reason: Clarification of on the day scrutiny.

You're right, silly question.
In general, motorkhanas don't provide for regional scrutiny like at a rally. I guess the main reasons are that it's all at one venue, you can enter on the day at most events (not the case at the AMC) and what Peter said.
Since it's the AMC, there are a few people that will take it very seriously. They'll be making sure that their opposition have "legal" tyres etc throughout the day and stuff like that. If they see something wrong, they'll be onto it in a flash. I don't think regional scrutiny would help us there....

Silly of me to think that the AMC was any more sirious than rallying.

Is it the Clio and the Hilux? 'Cause they're both in the same class (D). The CAMS manual no longer has a different class for RWD class D cars and the new Clio has a 2580mm wheelbase.
Regs out in the next few days, folks. Check NSW Motorkhana and Khanacross -
