Pure Motorsport to broadcast Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA live worldwide

The global rallying spotlight will again be on South Australia as the Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA is broadcasted live worldwide this July31-August 2. For the second time in as many years Pure Motorsport will use their cutting edge technology to allow rally fans from all over the world to watch all the action from Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA live on the internet.

Pure Motorsport TV’s coverage of Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA will include highlights from the innovative new Pedders No Bull Shootout, full coverage of the Coates Angaston Super Special Stage live on Friday and Saturday night, and interviews, in car and highlights from the forests on Saturday and Sunday. The podium ceremony will also be broadcast live in full on Sunday.

“The cost effectiveness of live internet broadcasting means we are able to offer approximately 20 hours of live coverage over the course of the weekend for a fraction of the cost of an hour of TV highlights” said Pure Motorsport Team Principal Ryan Jones. “We hope that following this broadcast we can secure enough support to allow every Australian Rally Championship round coverage of this quality in 2010.”

The coverage is set to be hosted by OzRacingWrap.com.au’s Shaun Garrity, Ryan Schembri and Darron Hughes.

Sprint Auto Parts Rally SA Clerk of Course Ivar Stanelis has been highly supportive of the concept. “We constantly look to evolve and innovate, and the arrangement with Pure Motorsport is a great example of that process. Streaming the event live to the internet is a massive bonus for the event and for rally fans worldwide. At the level being planned, this a world first for the sport. Our officials benefit too, with information previously not available to them now freely accessible. Sponsors benefit hugely too. We are getting a lot of interest in this broadcast now, which is great.

One of our aims is to interview ALL competitors at any point in the field. We have had a number of SA competitors book in for an interview prior to the event, and a number of interstate competitors have booked in for the days leading up to the event.

We have had a lot of interest so far, and have pre recorded a few interviews, with a couple more this weekend, and a couple of interstate competitors booked in for next week.

We are still looking for people to interview during the event, so if you're interested let me know. We're looking at showcasing every aspect of rallying so we want to interview a mix of drivers, co drivers, officials and service crew. Doesn't matter if you have the biggest or smallest budget, we have the time and capabilities to give everyone a voice!

That said being the last round of the ARC we do want to interview the main championship protagonists too, so will be hoping to get all of that organised too.

Basically if anyone has suggestions, ideas, etc, just let me know and we will try and incorporate.

I think this is brilliant, it's the way rally coverage has to be heading. Our sport is not exactly spectator friendly but using the internet as a medium is great. Having people go out & tape action & interviews from the days rallying, putting it on before you do a LIVE BROADCAST of the nights super special is brilliant. This will be as close as rally gets to v8supertaxi type coverage. Not only is this great for aus as alot of people in regional areas don't yet get oneHD & therefore can't watch ARC coverage* but people like Dale Moscatt (who may or may not want to watch the ARC) can watch it wherever they are in the world. Brilliant iniciative by rallysa & i hope it goes well because i really do think that ARCom & Rallycorp need to look at this rather than the way the current ARC coverage is.

* lets not start a "but why would you watch the ARC" discussion, lets give this idea credit where it's due.

Thanks for that. Final details should be available in the next day or so and we're really looking forward to getting a quality product out there. We have received little commercial support so will do the best we can. Hopefully people tune in and give us feedback.
