All,
As raised at the last quarter Club meetings in 2009, I have been in discussion with Snowy Hydro Southcare (SHSC) regarding a motor sport static display and merchandise stand to be present on their extremely popular SHSC Base Open Day. This year the SHSC Base Open Day will run on Sunday 21st February 2010 from 10.00am to 3.00pm at the SHSC helicopter base at Hume, ACT.
I am looking for generous rally drivers and owners of interesting vehicles who would be prepared to display their vehicles for the motor sport static display/show and shine. SHSC are extremely enthusiastic to have motor sport represented on the day and have given us a large area to collectively showcase our sport to the public and, if you own one, your ‘special’ car, at the very popular Open Day.
The general plan is to have collectively, groups of five (5) cars fanned out, noses together (similar to a spread out hand) and the tent in the centre. Under the tent will be tables with BMSC merchandise, membership sign-up and information pertaining to the sport. Ideally it would be great to have drivers/co-drivers/service crew on hand to discuss with the public any questions they may have regarding the sport and or their car.
Therefore, preferably, ten (10) cars minimum would be a great starting point, and variety is the spice of life i.e. 2WD, 2WD turbo, 4WD et al. The more cars on show will represent a strong focal point to advertise the sport, and the up coming Autotech Services ACT Regional Rally Series events for 2010, and the SHSC Charity Ride Day to be held later in the year.
All displays will need to be finalised by 9.45am for the 10.00am open time on the day, therefore it is envisaged set up/arrival of cars would begin from roughly 8.00am and be completed by 9-9.15am. Further details will be available when I receive the pack from SHSC shortly.
If you are able to assist by giving your time and your vehicle for this great day, it would be gratefully appreciated. To centralise all interest in offering your cars and time for the day, please contact me, or respond via email at
merchandise@bmsc.com.au providing your best contact numbers and email address, so I may keep you in the loop and advise SHSC of the number of participating cars for our display. I envisage finalising car/participant numbers by Sunday 7th February 2010.
I met with SHSC at the Hume base on today (Friday 8th January) to see the site and where we will be positioned. There is ample space for us. With other attending static displays including SHSC, police, fire, ambulance, SES and the like, food galore, rides, hot air balloons, jumping castle et al – it will be awesome; a great day for your families to attend whilst your car is on display, and most importantly for a great cause.
Look forward to hearing from you soon. Thanking you in advance for your interest and participation.
Kim Martin
P.S: You do not need to be a member of the BMSC; open to all participants. Additionally, if your rally car or 'special' car can not start (engine rebuild et al) as long as the outside looks good and spick and the car can roll on and off a trailer, bring it along. The more variety the merrier.
