As some of you will be aware, the club was going to organise a “Rally of Canberra” type event – 2 day; pace noted for the ACT Series. The organisers were unable to find enough roads to put together a quality two day rally. The Committee has decided to hold a one and a half day rally on the weekend that the event was meant to run.
Thanks to the generous support of Steve Nightingale, the event will be known as the
“Appliance Installations Stages”. It will be a "blind rally" (I.e. a roadbook - NOT pace noted)
We will be holding a (by invitation) “Media Day” on the Sunday afternoon prior to the rally, in the hope we’ll be able to arrange more publicity for the rally and the
2010 Autotech Services ACT Regional Rally Series.
If you think this is "just another Canberra rally" - YOU'RE WRONG!!!
The organisers are trying to bring back a few elements that have been missing in recent years:
- We will be introducing a prologue for the event – to be held on the Friday night. If you are unhappy with your event seeding – show us what you’re made of, and you may be re-seeded.
- As an added incentive – there will be a “Dash for Cash” held after the Prologue. The event sponsors have stumped up cold, hard cash for the 1st outright crew; 1st 2WD, 1st P2, 1st Novice driver and 1st female driver!
- We are planning to close Coppins Crossing Road and join the Greenhills and Bluetts stages. (Still to be confirmed with Urban Services - but the extra paperwork has been submitted).
The Friday night prologue and "Dash for Cash" are not compulsory - and do not count towards a competitors overall time. They will be a great place to show your stuff to your sponsors, service crew and the public - who will have access to two spectator points, and who knows, you may win a couple of hundred bucks! (Driving lights are recommended for the Friday night - and the final stage/s Saturday).
We have set a course that is a good test of driver, co-driver and vehicle. The rally will suit the smart driver – the person who can read the road conditions and push when they can and back off and look after their car at other times. The person who drives flat out the entire time – won’t finish…
We are working to make a return to Uriarra forestry settlement as the Service park. Discussions are continuing – but the feedback is positive.
The paperwork has been sent to Urban Services; Parks, Conservation and Lands (Forestry) and CAMS.

We look forward to seeing you there!
