World "Time Attack" Challenge 2010 - Eastern Creek
Superlap Australia – Time Attack
Despite what the URL is, it's 21-22 May 2010 at Eastern Creek, and meant to have a few internationals actually coming to compete at it. From what I can tell, it's an expensive supersprint?
Thanks to PF for making me aware of this.

I like the idea
But I really love the rules:
e.g.
Quote:
Wheels & Tyres
• Wheels are free.
|
Good - put me down for twenty - but its this bit I like
Quote:
All vehicles must run one of the following Tyres.
Yokohama/Advan A048R, AO50R
Bridgestone RE540S, RE55
Dunlop Formula R (D83J, D93J, D01J, DZ02G, DZ03G)
Federal 595RS
Kumho Ecsta V700, V70A
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup, TB15
Pirelli P Zero C, P Zero Corse
Silverstone FTZ Sport Tyre RR, S575, S585
Toyo Proxes RA-1, Proxes R888, Trampio R881
Hankook Ventus Z221
|
So provided I run one of those - I can put anything I like on the other three wheels? So Eastern Creek - put one of them on the front left and then some real race rubber on the other three?
And yes I know what they mean, but as is usual the writing of the rules is close but not correct.

You're not thinking laterally enough, naturally you'd run the one tyre on the spare

This event is now massive within the industry. Probably not everyones cup of tea, but I have been involved as a driver since it started. I won clubsprint outright in 2008 and then won open outright last year. I have driven multiple cars every year, and am driving 4 cars this year.
Nearly every workshop that is involved in performance tuning or the black stuff to some degree has there own car or supports a car or cars, as they know how big and important this event is to there business.
I like it as the workshops want me to drive there car's
Make no mistake, the cars that appear at these events are purpose built and are the fastest radial tyred sedan car's in the country.
The ADVAN R34 GTR that is running recently did laps at Bathurst and churned out 2min 13sec laps and did 318kph down conrod on the MOTEC.
You guys should come out and have a look to see what other people are interested in

Just watched a Youtube of the guy in the R34...pretty cool stuff.
I particularly like the rules...most important things are free. Except fuel and tyres.
Not sure it's my cup of tea, but I'll be watching out for more updates.

This is the sort outright power you would expect to see running the PRO class. I may be making the trip over with a mate so he can run in the clubsprint class. Hanging out to see the cyber evo

A mate of mine is running in the "PRO" class, and he is tipping you will need to do 1min 35sec to be among the front. That is fast not to be on Slicks. Steve Glenny is Driving a few cars. Quite a few businesses get others to drive their cars. There will be a few V8 drivers there. Work will have me in Melbourne that weekend, but well worth the trip to EC, if just to look at other aspects of the sport.
