I have heard some interesting comments from stewards with Circuit backgrounds at state Khanacross events....
Normally apparel based. ( hey and its Mr Racesuit at a Motorkhana here.... I may be a wonker, but its my choice... I dont think a teeshirt at a motorkhana is an issue!)
Which pretty much summarises the issue we have. And Daewoo is dead correct. If we NEED this it MUST get put through a lawyer first or , to put it blunkly, Our Butts in a sling!!

My view is that officials in Track work are there to notify competitors of track conditions ahead (green flag, yellow flag red flag etc). And to come to the aid of drivers should the need arise (fire marshals, first aid marshals)
In rallying the primary role of the official is to make sure that the public don’t get onto the track. This is usually done by parking their vehicle across the access road and a few stern words for those persistent people. And it seems to have worked pretty well for the last 100 or so years.
Naturally for higher profile events high vis vests are usually supplied stating the official’s role and responsibility.
In closing there is no reason a rally official should ever have to put themselves in the line of danger to execute their roll.

This maybe one of those moments.
