SKDAC Motorkhana/Khanacross
SKDAC is holding a Motorkhana and Khanacross on Sun 7th December
South Nowra
9am scrutineering
10am Motorkhana
Lunch break
1pm Khanacross
finish around 4-5pm.
$30 for the day, current normal khana-type licences (I dunno, the usual?), juniors welcome (but expect to be thrashed by the hillbilly local boy, Wade Hillbilly)
What great value!
See Miss break* Pete's Honda, again!
Place bets on how long it takes for Col Anderson, token weird old guy who thinks rally cars should carry their own recovery gear, to roll the buggy!
Experience first hand South Nowra dust!
View the tree Jenny ran into on her first date** with Spac!
Call Pete Ewing on 02 4284 2340 or 0421 605 714 for more details!
*Miss did not actually break the Honda, it was going to break anyway and she was driving it when it did
**Yes, Spac really did take Jen to a Khana for their first date and she really did take out a tree

Tony,
Scott and I are in. Are you likely to make it 3 Lancers, or will it depend on the severity of the post rally hangover?
Not sure how long the drive is for you guys, no dramas if you can't make it.

Yeah baby, we're in. If Anna is a good girl I might even give her a go, if she wants to get back in the car after RdF the day before.

FYI:
Pete knows about Bogan and AJ...
Canberra-Nowra is cr@p any way you go. Either thru Mossvale or thru the 'Bay, it's about 3 hours.
Boges, make sure you get Anna there, I wanna pit myself against someone with about the same experience as me... the regular South Nowra crowd is a bit top heavy and setting second slowest stage time only tells you you can't keep up with some of the best in the state. Even Wade Hillbilly can kick my arts without blinking, but at least I know what a spanner looks like AND how to use it.

Lol!
Yeah, if you get hosed, don't feel too bad... The guy who 'always' wins MCC khanas has gone home with his tail between his legs, after finishing well down in the placings at a SKDAC event.
That the current 'gun' is 14 years old and the only parts of the car he can correctly identify is the steering wheel and the seat, doesn't mean that he's not seriously quick.

What we have had in Canberra as khanacrosses are really overgrown motorkhanas.
What SKDAC has at South Nowra are "true" khanacrosses, which is more like a mini-rallysprint, with a greater variety of terrain. Instead of flags, there's trees, and tracks throughout the area.
When I went to start running khana's in Canberra, I wanted to replicate the South Nowra environment, but there was nowhere available that I coudl find.
Trust me, a South Nowra khanacross is more challenging. Their motorkhanas are too, but that tends to be because there's no grass, and dust becomes a bigger issue.

Oh, this is also where I chould point out the that a motorkhana is meant to involve smaller distances (hencle, less speed), and the vehicle and safety requirements are therefore diminished (no helmet inside sedans, no fire extinguisher required, etc). They also allow for people as young as 12 (? from memory) to compete.
Khanacrosses are larger (up to 1.5 kms total length per course), and have the helmet/fire extinguisher/other requirements, and the minimum age for competitors is 14 (? again, from memory).
Makey sensey?
Edit for having mental dyslexia...

So who else is gonna come? We're going to drive the Lancer all the way up there, so how about at least one other crew brings some sort of vee-hicle to keep us company?

North then South (thur Mossvale) - At least you get to do Fiztroy Falls.
South then North (thur Bay) - not much fun at all.
The best route to Nowra is not north then south or visa versa it is just go east. Straight of the mountains and down into Nowra. About half the time, depending on you dirt road pace.
Great road trip with a few cars, probably not if you have trailers.

Pfft. Going the Batemans way takes heaps more time. Hurl Boy's place (which is about half an hour south of the Khana grounds) is the point where it takes equal time either way.
If you're going to go, go up the Federal Hwy, turn off at the Illawarra Hwy, go through Moss Vale towards Robertson. DO NOT turn right at the "Nowra" sign a few kms out of MV - instead, keep on the Illawarra Hwy, and turn right at the second turn off (bypassing Fitzroy Falls, which is a shi77y, dangerous, unfun piece of road).
Then go through Kangaroo Valley, and turn right onto the Princes Hwy at the roundabout at Bomaderry. Then stay on it until you find Warra Warra Rd on the left just as you're leaving Sth Nowra.
Trust me on this one - I must have done this trip (or variations of it) about a hundred times.
