CAMS Bullettin 04/13 - Historic and Classic Rally Cars

Okay, found the time to get off my butt and read some of the most recent bullettins getting about.

http://www.cams.com.au/bulletins/B04...egulations.pdf

It's interesting to note that this now allows some of those things that have been complained about before (cars from Group 2 and Group 4, forest arches, FIA heads, 5-links in Escorts, etc), but is still toothless, in that it only allows for these vehicles in "Historic/Classic" rallies, Multi-Club/Club rallies (ala Dell) and piggyback to State/ARC events.

And really, if you wanted to, you could have written regs that allowed most of that before.

Still don't allow them within the scope of PRC, or within a State round. Only as part of a piggyback to the State round.

A step forward, but not as much as is wanted, or warranted, IMHO.

I just had a telephone discussion with Spac about it...

It's peculiar that they've specifically written this Bulletin, 'cause you could have done pretty much all of what they specifiy there before. Seems more like an endorsement to do it, rather than a change of what you can actually do.

You could always run a non-PRC car in non-series events (Dell, RdF, etc), and a smart/keen Clerk of Course could have run a piggyback event to let it happen (HCR?).

Just seems more like a "formalisation" than anything else... still pretty restrictive, though, and doesn't encourage true competition between PRC and Historic/Classic (ala Alpine).

That's part of the reason that I posted it... It seemed positive, but definitely in a "two steps forward, three steps back" kinda way.
