Wakefield Park Supersprint - Sunday 4th July
Thornleigh Car Club, with some assistance from our good friends at Hills District Car Club, are running a supersprint at Wakefield Park (Goulburn) on Sunday the 4th of July.
BMSC are one of the invited clubs, supp regs attached as pdf.
I realise many people will be getting their cars ready for, or busy with organising, the Dell Classic Stages Rally the weekend after. However, if you'd like to come along you would be most welcome.
Scrutineering from 7:45am to 9:30am on the day.
Start 10:00am
Finish 4:30pm
Format will be as many lots of 2 flying laps that we can fit in the day, 3 pairs of similar paced cars on the track at a time, separated by a third of a lap. Electronic timing with printed time slips after each run to allow friendly sledging in the pits. Fastest lap of the day will be your final result.
Familiarisation Run in the morning for those who haven't driven there before. Minimum 2S licence, i.e. National Rally is more than adequate. CAMS event so you don't need a "Wakefield Licence" to enter.
Cost is $110 if entry received before 16th June, $125 after that.
Vehicle requirements as per Schedule A & B of General Requirements for Automobiles on page 6-6 and 6-7 of the 2004 CAMS Manual.
Basically, if you've got a PRC rally car it is ready to run as is - just throw on some worn out rally rubber or road tyres and enter as a Type 3 vehicle, Type 4 if you run slicks.
For non rally cars, you need a fire extinguisher, blue battery triangle sticker and secondary bonnet restraint. If the car is road registered and manufactured after 1/1/1973 you don't need the secondary bonnet restraint.
This means yes, you can run your daily driver or unregistered khanacross beast. Some people will be there in the car they drive to work (in the appropriate classes) - that's what club motorsport is all about.
Drivers need helmets and clothing from throat to wrists to ankles. You won't need a race suit.
Plenty of "rally friendly" people from TCC, HDCC, NSSCC and Nepean Valley Car Club will be there, hopefully some nice cars from NSW Road Racing Club in attendance as well.
Any queries, call Director Steve Bicket on 0425 231 112, post questions here or PM me for more info.

Will probably be too poor to attend, but maybe not... Anyone else from Canberra contemplating making the trip?

Tony,
I'll be giving one of your neighbours a serious arm twisting this weekend, even if he has to drive my car.

At this stage, I'll be bringing the new toy out.
Good chance to find that 50 cent part that's going to lose us the Dell.

I've found that it's better to have a 50c part unexpectedly break and f12k your rally, than a $5000 part...

I don't think you will find any 50 cent parts in the Toyota bin.
Mazda maybe, but Toyota.
I'm keen for a run, just have to see what state the Mazooda is in after Bega.

Thanks for the support guys, just remember cheaper entry fee if received on or before 16th June.
See you there.

Bump.
Still plenty of room left, and I don't think they are pushing very hard for the late entry fee.
HDCC lurkers: get those entries in, or at least ring Janelle so we know you're coming.
Back to normal programming.

I'm still keen. Even more so with the brakes stuff (see other thread).
Just not hugely keen to stick an entry in too early.

Late fee only applies for "on the day" entries
Thanks Matt, would be great to see you there.
Latest update:
If you call and/or mail your entry between now and the start of the event, the entry fee will still be $110. If you wait until the morning of the event and turn up with paperwork and cash un-announced it is $125. Just trying to streamline docco and scrutineering on the day, that's all.
Possible amendment to invited clubs list coming soon...........

Invited Clubs
Hopefully the last update:
I didn't shout loudly enough when they were picking which clubs to invite originally, but thanks to enthusiasm from certain people here , I found my voice.
If anyone from the following clubs are interested, they are most welcome to come on the 4th of July:
Shoalhaven & Kiama Districts Auto Club (SKDAC)
Southern District Motorsports Association Inc (SDMA)
Light Car Club of Canberra (LCCC)
Get those entries in folks.
