Draft Bay Stages Seeded Entry List
OK Folks,
Here is a DRAFT Seeded Entry List for Bay Stages ... thanks to those of you who have entered and thanks to all those coming to help out as officials etc ...
Discuss the list - reasonable arguments for changes supported by FACTS will be considered - but may or may not be implemented in the final list which goes to CAMS on Monday morning.

Ian,
David Boyd here (64). I think I am seeded a bit low. Hope these are reasonable arguments.
These cars seeded in front of me, I finished in front of at Oberon (and by how much).
46 Andrew Penny - 40 secs
55 Sophia Moody - 6 mins 20 secs
57 Tim McGahey - 6 mins
59 Greg Munn - 2 mins 20 secs
63 Tony Maxwell - 9 mins
Over the last 3 stages at Oberon we were the speed of the Feruglios (51).
At the Dell, going off our stage times, we were about the speed of Bede Austin (48 ).
Cheers,
Dave

61 Peter Jerie TBA I beat this guy at Bega on all 8 stages and he was seeded behind me there.
62 Marc Pilkington Dougal Wilson Is this a bit low? They were at Narooma, had a look at those results? Not that we'd mind hanging out with them all day .
63 Tony Maxwell Anna Ritson Chrysler Lancer
64 David Boyd Sam McMahon I don't care how far in front of us they are seeded as long as they're not behind us anywhere. They spanked us at Oberon and the stages we both did at Dell. I don't want to have to book in late to let them past .

No offence.... but that top ten or 12 is a shocker IMO.
Form would suggest....
1 Sullens
2 Roberts
3 Mitchell
4 Croker1
5 Croker2
.... the winner will come from these. Everyone else if very long odds. Then....
6 Heffernen
7 King (he's got the runs on the board against Kari and JS and is very much in the series for outright)
8 Kari (ACT)
9 Stilling (ACT)
10 Yeomans
11 Briscoe
12 Judson
Davee Boyd should be in the 40's.
Other than that it looks OK.

And moving a little further down, based on the four daylight Bega forestry stages (similar to the Bay?) Leitis/ Mules (currently 32) merits starting mid teens. They edged Waterhouse by 6 seconds over those stages, me by 24, Fitzgerald by 47, Marks by 53 and Slade by 2:11. As Bega was JW's first run in the new RX7, I suggest he is worthy of seed 13 then Leitis at 14. Barretts very nice Evo 3 (ex Paul Bray) will also be quick and could probably be brought up behind Kirk Marks. Personally I am happy anywhere in that group.

I'd be moving Barrett to 17 and Gavin to 14. The Barretts are a wildcard, but could be Top Ten prospects. Kev Gavin is a fast punter and Commodores are suited to the Bay roads.... he is the only one who has shown any form to suggest they could take on Dave King in the 2wd's IMO. (besides Southy who's missing)
I'd throw Letius up behind Urqhuart. He's due for a decent seed..... and definately has the talent/form to match it with the guys seeded 10 or more cars above him at present. He tends to finish as well, so is in line for class/top 3 2WD awards.

Car 22 behind Rob Inall is OK by me. Rob is quick and will be a good pacemaker. Not sure about the Fiat at 18 though. With GT a couple of cars ahead, there should be plenty of time to talk VR4 stuff!! Everyone should remember seeding is about stage times relative to each other, not where we finish.

I'm happy enough with y seeding and those around me, with one exception: Carl Stewart.
I know he finished equal with me at Bega, but I didn't stop mid stage to put a coil lead back on, and then drive the rest of the shire stages with a dead coil...
If you look at his forest stage times (when his car was running right), then I'd reckon he should be somewhere in the mid 20s.
Not trying to give anyone (or this list) any shet, but it seems some people regularly get 'magic' seedings, despite their results...

First of all I'm happy enough, and whilst I havent spoken to JW Im sure he will be as well.
Part of the issue here though is the mixing of short and long event people. The Qld process for example has the long event people starting first - then a 4 - 6 minute gap then the short event people. Seems to work very well, keeps the field safe still and helps finish the rally earlier.
ANyway see you all there.

Well, Ian has re-consulted the rally tea leaves, looked skyward for inspiration, listened to your educated input to tried and satisfy all the requirements of the speed and the short and long events.
He has made a few changes to the seeded list and CAMS have approved it just now.
I am about to send it to KW so it can be placed in a proper place on BMSC.
FYI, The Bay and surrounds have had about 12 mm of rain over the last 7 days
See you all there.

Well you just said it Simon. Nothing worse than trying to have a go in someone elses dust. Remeber the seeding list is more about safety. The Fiat had some engine issues in the QLD ARC round but once that was fixed 2 stages back to back inside the top 20 and we were winding down for the day.
You should book your spectators seat for the Premiere State Rally and see how fast this thing really goes. It's all about entertainment too but you might have to wait around until the entertainment arrives at the back of the ARC pack. There's a better engine and independant rear coming for Rally Melbourne. That should be a interesting indeed.
