The things you find...

Got talking on PerformanceForums the other day, about what happened to cars that were featured in Fast Fours & Rotaries magazine (no, it wasn't always full of poxy stereo & body kit cars!).

So this morning I dug up some really old issues, just refreshing my memory. The Nov/Dec 1991 issue in particular... So They featured one of each of the old RX series Mazdas, including a RX-5... Most of them were ACT cars, which is much more interesting to me now than it was then...

But when I get to the RX-5's article, it gets the most interesting - and I am quoting directly:

"Mike Morris, who claims to be 'no rotary moron!', has rallied four rotaries and campaigned an RX-2 as late as 1989. Clued into the RX-5's standard features, he wanted something that would be a strong all-arounder, a commuter and a club racer. The RX-5 was the best compromise. 'If you buy an RX-3 you need to put a rear disc (brake) kit in it and do a lot of work to the rear suspension'."

The plates were MM-000.

Any comments? Mike M was registered on the forums, wasn't he? What happened to the car?

So is that why you've been quiet about the RX-5 thing? 'Cause you've actually been in one?!

I take it the car hasn't been seen in a while?

Mike Morris should have a good hard look at themselves
Sorry, dont know anything about it.

Never owned a RX in my life.

Wouldnt buy a copy of Fast Fours and Rotaries if my life depended on it.

Zen has me confused with someone else.

OK OK OK

Yeah it was me.

I had this RX5 thing that I did a bit to and I decided to sell it.

So I ring FF&R asking about running a small ad and next thing they're on the bloody doorstep wanting to do a feature on the thing!!!!!

Bloody stupid article was titled "white knight" or sumfin real jerky, and the crap photos were taken amongst some cherry blossoms! It actually looked better than the article showed.

Anyway, how many of youse have had your road car featured in a big glossy!!!!!!!!

Tell ya Spac; this forum could be in real trouble now. You've prompted my 1st post and by hell it aint gunna be my last.

Oh yeah

As for the RX5.

Best thing I ever did in that was a few laps of Mt Panorama.

It had a pretty cool port job and exhaust system and around the mountain between the concrete barriers it made all the right moves and noises.

I could have redlined around all evening, but thought I better leave before one of the locals calls the fuzz.

Cheers
M
