Thumbs up 2005 Rally of the Manning Valley - NSW State Round

Hi All

Please be advised that supplementary regulations for the 2005 Rally of the Manning Valley will be posted in the LATER part of the week to the Central North Coast Sporting Car Club website www.cncscc.com and via the snail mail.

The event will be held on 23 July 2005 and once again be based in the Taree & Dingo Tops area, 9 special stages over 131km for an entry fee of $395-00. It will be a State, Clubman North, Novice, Gemini and Northern NSW round, with everyone running the whole course - no long & short here. Single service park with two services. For those who ask the question - yes we will be going up Knodingbal Road as SS2 and down it for the last of the night - happy Witho? All the roads are fast technical roads with a couple of challenges thrown in, like Poledump & Throughcut, the roads are in perfect condition and have all been surveyed in a family sedan at reasonable pace.

Here is the catch - the field is limited to 60 entries - and the priority is order of receipt - it must be a completed entry with PAYMENT in accordance with the CAMS regulations - no coin and the entry will be returned, no phone entries either, so if you want to make sure you have a starting position, get in early!!!!!!!!!!

For those who have indicated to me in passing that you can come and give us a hand on the day please email mike.cherry@bigpond.com with your contact details and availability.

Yes - it is the hardest day in my rally year sitting on the sideline, hey but we all need to put something back into our sport!!!

Cheers

Hi All

Just a reminder that entries for the 2005 Rally of the Manning Valley close this FRIDAY.

Rain, well that has given us some grief. A big thanks must go to the Senior Assistant Clerk of Course Mike Cherry who has managed a huge task of re routing the rally to get you onto roads that are in the best possible position to tolerate more rain so we can run, additionally our service park at Elands got drowned with 11 inches of rain and has not recovered which threw another spanner in the works.

So what do we have now? 8 stages covering 125km competitive with a central service park at Wingham - the format will be - 1 stage - minor service - 3 stages - major service - 1 stage - minor service - 3 stages finish. In the loop of 3 stages there will be an emergency refuel for those that require it, as the loop will include 50km competitive & 100km transport. The refuel will be at the end of the first stage in the loop and the process will be that competitors wishing to use the refuel will load a maximum of 40 litres (20 per loop) in Australian Standard approved jerry cans (tagged with car number) on a truck that will transport it to the refuel area, Mike has allowed 5 minutes in the transport section for the competing crews to refuel themselves - NO SERVICE CREWS WILL BE PERMITTED.

A bulletin will be issued to the competitors outlining these amendments when the entry list is posted out.

A friendly word of advise to competitors before they face the Secretary at documentation - make sure that ALL your paperwork is in order, that is, your log book has the right photos for the car and ALL the numbers (VIN, engine & rego) match in the log book & rego papers AND your licenses are current. We were faced with a large percentage of competitors at doco last year with discrepancies, that either ended up with a write up in the log book or faced the stewards to get around THEIR issue.

ALL COMPETING VEHICLES MUST HAVE THE WHITE SQUARE ON THE DOOR AS REQUIRED BY THE CAMS MANUAL. You will fail scrutineering if it is not in place.

For those who have not entered, regs are available at www.cncscc.com otherwise cross your fingers that the person doing the rain dance has stopped :-)

Cheers

Kam,

How did you go getting a rally with 125km passed as a state rally?

Reg 1.1.2:
The events should be 150km min....blar blar...

It's a shame more guys from the ACT / south NSW don't enter, really don't know how good the roads are up that way, seems like very few like to go north of sydney...

Passed when the regs were approved. And the entry fee is only $395 - not the full hog $545.

And the deciding factor is the effect rain has had on roads, don't want you all slipping off the road.

Quality roads at a cheap price - can put in a heap of crap to make up the distance - quality not quantity.

ARC for State crews last year was $625 for only 117km if my memory serves me correct!!! And the roads were goats tracks by the time we got on them.

I'm not going to Taree but how do those that are feel about the centralised service? sect 1 approx 55ks for 7 ks competitive

sect 2 approx 149ks for 56ks comp
sect3 73k's for 7k's comp
sect4 156k's for 54k's comp

I don't know the layout up there and I'm told the roads are great but it seems like alot of driving for a little competitive distance total distance approx 434k's total comp 125k's and if thats just to use central service it seems a waste

The reason for the extra distance in transport is due to the 11 inches of rain 2 weeks ago damaging roads and washing out the original service park (see previous post!). We have had a major re route in the last 2 weeks to get quality roads that would stand up to a 50 odd car field and somewhere that service crews would be able to access without gettin bogged. It was a choice between having an event and not!
