Rally Rotorua

Had a look at the Rally Rotorua results from the weekend and good to see a few of the locals setting some respectable times against Toshi and some of the internationals.

It says that Mark Tapper was excluded after initially finishing Third overall (without a reason), does anyone know why?

Thought Ray or someone who browses other rally forums might have heard some facts!

Still trying to find out, Motorsportforums are down at the moment. All i know is that he was excluded after post event scrutineering. Not many people know, so i will have to do some more digging.

I will be taking the lucky beads with me, so I wouldn't bet against us if I were you!

Speaking of a great winning streak (through luck or other) does anyone know of a record for the number of either consecutive rally wins or wins in one season/calendar year?

Mike Morris should have a good hard look at themselves
I think....without looking up old rally books, that Greg Carr won 5 or 6 ARCs in the Lancia and then got beat by Dunks at ROC. But I think the winning streak might have been broken by a dud result at Rally Oz.

Cant think of many others of the top of my head.

He won every round of the ARC one year, I think I read that in ARN not long ago.

Edit: See here. It was in a Fiat.

"Generally, when the Fiat finished, Carr won, and it was a scenario that was played out regularly throughout his brilliant career. In his stellar 1989 season, the Canberra driver won every round of the ARC, and took the title with ease."

Another Edit: rally.com.au has him winning in a Lancia, and Lancia taking the manufacturers title. Hmm...

In 89, Carr and Mick Harker were definitely in the Lancia. They won 5 rounds. The 6th round was the ESANDA ROC. Dunkerton won in a Gp A VR4.

Tapper reinstated after Mitsubishi produced evidence that his intercooler was legal. apparently it differed from the other cars but was a variant option that was legal.
