2005 Alpine - incar footage from the Screaming Fiat.

Hi

I've upped some incar footage x 2 clips

The first is the OFF that lost us the event. You'll agree it was so nearly not off. The second is over exposed outside the car - I'm trying to filter this out and re-edit the footage.

Any experts out there(video editing - not how to drive a car please!!) feel free to advise any tricks to filtering from DVcam via firewire - no filter options available for this config.

When we've got the contrast right we'll probably put another couple up if theres any interest.

is anyone using one of these and can offer advise?

any feed back would be great. i currently have charles wannops system in my car and get similar results to the video above. although i will be getting my dash covered in the off season i was thinking of changing lense as well but want to make sure its worth the money.

Charles is now recommending the camera above - obviously a bit more expensive than the regular option.

I have started using a couple of these mini cams - switching between the two running the line in to a MiniDV camera and running audio from the Terraphone.

I worked out what I'd done wrong. I set the camera under cover and when we were out in the daylight - nasty over exposure. Also, the camera had too much of the inside of the car so was comphensating for the lighting inside the car - not the outside. Generally I'd say now if you can get the camera picking up at least 60% external to the car the camera should be able to do the adjustment.

I think this is the regular option: http://www.allthings.com.au/Catalogu...%20camera.html mounted in a bit of PVC tube with a photo camera lens filter over the end.

The vertical reflection/shine that's in your video is smear - the flash option camera is meant to be good at reducing that. Better signal/noise ratio is better for night stages and makes online videos smaller 'cos there's less random stuff to encode. THe flash option is also meant to meter exposure over a number of zones allowing you to properly expose the interior and exterior at the same time.
