Yers right there. I was on my way down from my previous stage to assist but Kev had it well and truly under control by then. Regardless of the legalities, Kev would have saved somebodies life that day.

Drove it on Sun. 5.7km from the grid near Tharwa Dr on Smiths Rd to the TL down angle crossing rd then another 6km to the Monaro Hwy. Angle Crossing was below the sills in my car.

There's probably 30% tarmac on the Smiths Rd bit now, but its all gold. The last little bit before the Monaro is pretty fast as is a few km of Smiths Rd. The Angle Crossing bit is probably the most realistic option.

ronpage has some part of a clue
Just reading some of the information in here. The term Don Capasco was derived from two trade names of friction material marketed by British Brake Linings. This company was part of the world wide Burmah group of companies who were at that time also the parent company of Castrol.

The 1975 International was known as the Newbreed-Don Capasco. This information is from a copy of an article included in the old CSCC Tappet Topics I have. The article looks to be from Racing Car News of about 1981 but doesn't indicate who the author was. It gives a brief summary of the event from 1974 til 1980 and provides details of placings down to fifth and includes the winner of the Clubman Award.

I recall competing in that Rally ina Datsun 1600 . Ran that stage, angle crossing to Smiths road, was fantastic...

Cars specification I recall was CRC inbetween Group G and PRC ...still okay

Also ran the point hut crossing road competively (tarmac) in the rain , was pretty exciting on worn rally tyres in the wet.....those were the days

I think we DN'fed in the 3rd last stage clutch / flywheel issues, was coming 10th as it became a rally of attrition...323 G/box 's everywhere / etc.....

Yep, remember that day, the sky litterally fell down, spent most of Sat night re-printing and binding re-routed road books and road cards.
