New 'rally circuit' at Eastern Creek?
OK, so the focus of the post isn't rallying, but does anyone know anything more about this?

MNSW has released a statement describing some great new additions to the Eastern Creek Motor Racing Precinct. Of most intertest to us is the planned motocross complex to be built on the sight of the tip accross the road from the dragstrip. A rally sprint circuit is also planned for the area.
In addition, a half mile speedway is to be built adjacent to where the dual entrance to the circuit and dragstrip is. Rumour has it that the speedway will be a clay half miler for the sprint cars with a dirt quarter mile bike track that can be converted into a short circuit inside the main track. An international standard hotel is also planned. It will be located somewhere between turn five of the circuit and the dragstrip. Grassy parkland areas are also to be included in the plan to encourage car and motorcycle club rallys and picnics.
Of course all of this has to pass through the myriad of government committees and departments so I wouldn't be loading the esky just yet. Anyone who knows how much official bull**** the drag racers had to go through to get their venue up and running will know that these things don't happen overnight. Still, it was worth it for the drag racers who now have one of the best facilities of its type in the world. If the same enthusiasm is shown by everyone involved with these new additions, we can be assured of a first class venue.
Keep your fingers crossed.

The rally sprint track sounds like a great thing. If it ever happens.
I heard rumours of a Clay speedway and rally sprint track 4-5yrs ago and am still waiting.
If it does get off the ground, I think there a good opitunity for some of the bigger Rallysport club in Sydney basin area to jump on board and maybe run a Friday night rallysprint/Autocross series similar to the FNS in the ACT.
But my biggest concern is -- Who going to be the controlling club/authoritie
Cause i am not sure that the ARDC will be that interested unless they can make some $$$ to support there cause (tar). As with no V8 taxi at easterncreek they must be doing it tuff..... Thus maybe making it tooo exspensive for club to hire the facilities to run something like that. Ultimatly it gets passed on to the punter.
Hey look at the Tar circuit or the skid pan. Its in the thousands to hire the circuit proper. So lets hope that doesn't happen/
Maybe a couple of bigger clubs. Ie Toyosports/Northshore/Hills/Thornleigh.
should put in a bid to run/controll the area. As these club seem more intrested in the rallysport scene.
Matt

Haven't seen anything in the local papers about this - will certainly keep my eyes open.
Just hope they do something about the smell of the tip before we start playing there!

There was a thing about it in the blacktown local paper about 6 months ago they had the whole paper dediacted to the motor sport precinct they are trying to set up, i just asumed it was a pipe dream probably stopped by the greenies and mothers clubs complaining about to much noise, so i forgot about it. ill see if i can drag it up, as there are plans for it all somewhere.

I'm guessing with the "imminent" closure of Oran Park*, there's going to be a need for an alternative venue for Dirt Circuits and somewhere for Sideways Action(?) to run their rally school/experience.
The idea of putting all the motorsport facilities in one place makes a lot of sense, but worries me in terms of being susceptible to the lobbying powers of NIMBY's.
* - I keep hearing repeated rumours of Oran Park's closure, and different dates, but am unsure if it will ever close. It will be a very sad day for motorsport when it does.

I keep hearing those rumours as well. I have also been told on several occasions that the mob leasing Oran Park have acquired land near Picton and are working on EPA approval for it to become a circuit. Fuel for that rumour is that all of the "new" buildings at Oran Park are able to be removed/dismantled easily for relocating to a new site.
They've left a couple of essential bits out of the Motorsport Parklands, but it's a great step forward from what we currently have. It would be great if it happens.

Apart from the motorbike , & quad bike track ,, Rallysprint track, & speedway circuit , They were also trying for a jet boat circuit as well, I know they have lobbied Ford, GM & others to come & build in the Industrial area next door to all of this & use the circuit as test Facilities for future models, also several v8 teams.

These guys are BEGGING for feedback and comments, and while we may not live within the region, it would certainly be worthwhile offering some encouragement to Blacktown Council for this proposal. It certainly covers some of the issues if Oran Park goes into demise as predicted.

Top info everyone. I have spoken with the chap and have a meeting with him next week. (Well considering Our Company deals with Motor Vehicle Launches and events - I have a few reasons to speak with them)
Brilliant Ideas, willing to listen and a very positive attitude. So far its all good for what could be a great spot.
