Problem with Europe is that they have far far more spectators than what we do, so they couldn't possibly run the traditional one speccy point per 4 or 5 stages like we do.
The guy punting the Suzuki is certainly doing the right FWD thing and keeping the loud pedal buried.
Pity we can't run S1600 cars in the ARC - they would certainly sound a hell of a lot better than Group N. I'm interested in digging up some results from Rally Finland last year to see how the Suzuki stage times compared to Group N WRX's and Evo's.

I think most people under estimate a super 1600 car and how quick they are. They are a very wild machine to ride in and and make a group n car feel tame.
From memory in finland they are very close to the top group n cars and can are quicker on quite a few stages.
In rally Japan Chris and I were pretty much matching Cody and Dean, and i think overall we did finish infront of them.
As for the Motec is all done in Japan however we had a number of screen options but can't really remember what is on this one.
As for finland it is actually pretty notorious for ruts and flat tyres (we had 4 or 5 in 04) as they use quite alot of side roads to keep the average speed down.
Cheers
Ben

Come to think of it, with my Laser enjoying all of the pre-86 rules I've probably got something fairly close to a S1600 car in terms of performance anyway Just got to give the driver a big kick in the ar$e now to drive the thing harder.

Your TX3 does 9,500rpm, 250hp, weighs 950kg ready to rock and/or roll?

With sequential gearbox, trick diff, factory tyres, dinner-plate brakes and two jockeys inside?

LSD only I'm afraid
well let's just say that they are better than regular customer spec
only on the front so far - but that will be a hell of an improvement
Well Maree weighs in at 38kg's so that's less than most jockeys, and my BMI for my height puts me right at the bottom of normal weight for my height (not quite jockey weight though - probably why there's no 6'2" jockeys)
I only said fairly close, not that it's an exact replica or anything like that!

Really? It's a 1600 cc Laser isn't it? If this is accurate it must be quite difficult to get off the line as I would imagine it wouldn't have much torque.
What brand of tyres will you be using?

Oookay. So you've built a car with cage and underbody protection and still come in 100kg under the factory weight while retaining standard panels and glass? Top work Australian. That rev limit must have left a pretty good buzzing in your head.

I'll find out in a few days when we have our test session. The torque figures were pretty respectable, although the difference in revs between peak power and peak torque was slightly further apart than I'm used to seeing, as the peak torque is lower in the rev range (this may help in getting it off the line though).

There are actually a few published factory weights for a 2wd TX3 - I've seen figures of 915, 940, 980, 1030 and 1065. I think some may be due to the differences between an Australian and a Japanese TX3 (eg Japanese TX3 doors are 14kg lighter each apparently), some will be for the turbo model, others for N/A, and I think the 1065 might actually be one of the 4wd models that someone has grabbed the weight from. I'm cursing that we didn't weigh the other car before we stripped it for the new shell as that would have given us a known weight to go by.
It's probably all fairly irrevelant though as I'll admit that I'm probably only driving the car at around 60% of what it's capable of at the moment. I've got very little rally driving experience (spent most of my rallying in the other seat), and I'm building up speed gradually as we sort the car out.
