Not interested...
Meh... Ford's got a factory team which would struggle to beat a well driven Datsun 1600, Toyota's are now too fast, Simon Evans looks to me to be dogging it... he's got that Toyota by the reigns and is holding it back. If it were a racehorse Simon would be out for months..... Scotty Pedder gives it his best shot but struggles to put another event together, 9 finishers... I remember when top 10 in a national was prestigious
Atko is starting to come under pressure and can't be too happy about how the last WRC ended, we still don't know the future of our WRC round...
Connelly's ARCom posse are still singing the praises of our domestic series, despite our national champion and longest serving privateer team being "ineligible" to compete... S2000- that's gunna save us!!! Yeah right....
The winner of the first NSW State round was local (big suprise) and wasn't registered for the series so 2nd is actually leading- which makes more sense than RoC which had 2 winners as well, or was that 3?? I can't remember. Bah... just buy a ToyotaWRC, I mean NP for next years state series... they'll be eligible to run I reckon. They've gotta go somewhere.
The same idiots (including myself) are ranting and raving on the forums about how things should be or how things used to be... and I still don't ever remember half of them actually competing for any more than 5 events. They write alot about rallying though, so I guess their opinion counts. But fairs fair- I am being a bit hard on these people, It's bloody hard to do just one event in this sport these days and it's only going to get more difficult.
Oh yeah... and someone else has giving "young" Ross another car to drive at the Bega novelty event. If we were serious about promoting the sport into the future, Ben Barker would be given a car for Bega- think about it! It's all arse end up.
I'm just not interested anymore. Anyone else feel the same... vent your spleen here.
oh sorry.... this started the rant
G'day Jme. We can't help but notice that you haven't made a post in our forums for quite some time. Please don't hesitate to put fingers to keyboard to help keep this community active. Your contribution is valued just as much as anyone else's.
If anyone want's a Nav... call someone else. I am now officially semi-retired and have gone into a state of "who gives a F" (which is pretty normal for me actually) I'll sit in with my mate Gee for a laugh, and meet any commitments I've already agreed to, but that's it.
Game over. See ya on the golf course!

Hear hear.
I don't give a rats who wins the ARC, the WRC, or the VRC for that matter .... it just doesn't interest me, and never really has (even in the "good old days"). I couldn't care less whether the ARC gets TV coverage or not. Big deal if an Aussie driver gets a WRC drive (no offence to Atko).
I just love rallying - whether it's competing, organising, or officiating - and I'll keep doing it until they prise my Romer from my cold, dead hands

I must admit I am suffering from a bit of the rally blues at the moment, the laser continues to be an exercise in frustration, and when I read in the VRP minutes of things like competitors being found with pacenotes at non-pacenoted rallies then you have to start to wonder if the competitors as a whole have lost sight of the fact that you don't get presented with a sheep station if you win the VRC, and that really we should be out there for fun. I'm even seriously thinking about selling the Laser and perhaps jumping back into the nav seat for a while, which I haven't done for a long time. Being told today that I'm looking at a $450+ per week pay cut isn't going to help either.

You know Jme has lost it when he writes "Nav" instead of "also driver"

I'm seeing nothing but opportunity. I can see a rosy a big yellow 240K winning the state championship.

Frustration comes and goes. There are times when you think is it worth it, and then you go out there again and say yep uhuh. If you are in it for fun then it is easy. If it is no longer fun then maybe.
Me, I am still really enjoying it and having a hoot too.
BTW - there was actually 10 finishers in the ARC at Bussleton

Ill get in before Ric.......
What in the hell is the matter with you all?
The sports never been better. Even Ford are back. Simon will win the ARC and everyone has a chance to win every rally. Its never been easer to get a top 10 place in an ARC. Ithought after last weekend that rally.com.au had a new policy only to show the top 10 in the results. I know better now!
Rallying is what you make of it. Maybe Ben deserves a drive and may you do too, but old Dunk has won 5 ARC's and he has more mates. Simple.
Anyone rallying today with the costs the way are are doing OK. Get that car out and get going. Your sport needs you. Dont give up , get even. And drive the A%^SE of ya car and get into it.
The spectators deserve it.
Ahhh................. feel better now.

Well that would be a direct consequence of there only being 13 registered competitors
I think your last three words say it all!!!

Matter for yourself pal; personally I still enjoy every K I do and will continue to do it as long as I can. (which is not to say that you arent absolutely correct in so far as some of the ARC stuff goes).
And I dont play golf, but do ride motorbicycles and sail multihulls.
Speaking of which see other thread in Idle Torque for notice of impending Tassie bike trip.

I share your fantasy - I can see it being renamed the Matt Martin Cup. . Is there an equivalency factor for horn buttons?
