Idea for the sponsors' part of the forum
Had an idea about the sponsors' part of the forum.
Yes, your sponsors are important - you don't need me to tell you that. But I think I've thought of a good idea for this forum in relation to the range of various businesses and services that we would need to use either as a rally competitor or an official or a spectator. If we send some business the way of people who sponsor others, it can only help, can't it?
My idea (tell me if it has been done already) is that in addition to the sponsor plugs ("my sponsor is ABC engines and they do a really good job) is for each of us who know of a particular service because they are a sponsor or because we use them all the time to put it on the forum in categories. Because we have a wide range of people from a wide range of areas and travelling is the nature of the beast, it won't do merely to say "Erk, look in the Canberra phone book".And besides, a recommendation from someone familiar with the service is surely better than a phone book?
Who knows, we might even help each other out and find a gem of a business that we never knew existed.
For instance, categories could include engines, suspensions, windscreens, panel beaters, sign writers, towing, merchandising and promotional items, accomodation etc etc etc.
Thoughts, ideas, etc?

Hmmm, so a handfull of heavilly moderated sticky threads?
Sounds sane. I still think we need a wiki to move 'valuable' information into.

I've been thinking about a Wiki for BMSC/ACT/General Rallying history stuff, but have no idea how it would interact with vBulletin.
And I'd need to find the time to act on it. A hard ask at the moment.

To the old barstards of this world, yes Factor that includes you.
I think they are speaking about a type of Wikiepedia type reference system.

Real nerds know and care about this stuff:
Its just a way of letting anyone/everyone maintain web pages. Good for long lived usefull information, as opposed to the crud that ends up mixed in to the forums. Perfect for the FAQ and a sponsors/bussiness directory. Spreads the content creation and maintenance to those who know and care, instead of one poor sod put in charge of the web site.
