I don't like the sound of this

I saw this line in a rallysport news article about the new guy heading up Ralliart here:

"Mr Emery said he will fully assess TMR’s motorsport program with Team Principal Alan Heaphy, in coming months and had already arranged a meeting with the Chairman of the Australian Rally Commission (ARCom), Mr Garry Connelly, ahead of next month’s Rally of South Australia regarding the direction and future of rallying in Australia."

For some reason, this concerns me..........

Here's hoping he takes a cricket bat and a couple of his heavies to beat some sense into him.......
or he may want to talk about tarmac rallying and how seperated it is from the dirt stuff. If you do tarmac, you must do dirt. That would get rid of all the pretty boys now wouldn't it.

I respect the works teams but its just as important to every competitor as it is to a lone competitor.

This is an indication of the graveness of our sport at the top. One would hope that the guy from Ralliart helps everyone else whilst he ensures Mitsubishis interests are looked after.

Dude... your not making any sense. Your starting to talk about the future of rallying and the individual/non-factory entrant in the same sentence, as if they are somehow related...

Talk to me about commercial partners and TV ratings .... show me the money!! How can those "enthusiast" competitors put me up in a 5 star hotel and pick up the tab for all the grog I drink!! They can't... it just won't work!

I'm thinking bitumen.... Lamborghini's, Porsches etc. They guys have got heaps of money to pay a $5,000 entry fee. We could have 76 classes so that every commercial partner wins, and can promote their success... and we could franchise out the entries so that a normal rally enthusiast can't afford to compete, cause god-forbid ... they might actually get a decent result and we may have to waste good TV time we could be giving to a commercial partner.

Oh... and if a manufacturer wants to win, but don't have a suitable car. They can just build a custom prototype and I'll sign off on it. It's all good... just cough up the dough, cause those who don't can't score points.

That's my future for the sport... you know it makes sense.

This is nothing new!!
Mr Emery when he arrived on these shores was instrumental in the Breakdown of the Ralliart Operation as it had been and the "temporary" appointment of Allan Heaphy to run it in the interim, Mr Emery has allways been Tarmac oriented and it was only directives from Japan and paying drivers and outside sponsors that has kept the Australian Gravel program going. I firmly believe Scott Pedder deserves his current position with Mitsubishi but you would get quite a giggle if you knew some of the other names that had been offered a second car for a fairly substantial fee.

Smee that's not strictly true.... Team blue as still "rallying" but on the black stuff. Now Team M will be running under the guise of one Mr Rooklyn. I would not think that Dean, Bill and Warwick are that pretty, maybe some of the girls would?

People come and go for their own reasons, as it should be. It would be nice if we had a round of the WRC and a strong positive national championship, but its not imperative to my involvement in the sport.
