If it was held too far in the wrong direction it would be a round of the Under Water Rally Championship (UWRC)!
Let's hope that something definate comes out soon.

Surely north, theres not much to the south, east would mean getting very wet! Probably based out of Beerburrum Pine forests which from memory are very fast and sandy and then head north up to the Sunshine coast!

I see a trip back to Queensland next year. Hope it is northside as that is where all my free accommodation is (i.e. relatives and friends).

I would think that North is more likely, however there are actually some fantastic roads in the hinterland behind the Gold Coast that have not been used for many years. Gold Coast Tweed Club used to run a round of the QRC in there in the early 90's. They would all be shire roads now. The character of these roads from memory was a lot like Rally of Melbourne.

What happens if it doesn't get on the WRC calendar for '07? They still going to run it as a candidate event?

Great news.
I really hope they can fit it on the calendar for 07.

If I recall correctly, the FIA basically said that they reserved the right to add events when the calendar was released and the inference from that was that Rally Aust would be the event to be added in if it could be sorted out.

Then the teams said ***** off, 16 is enough, and Morrie Chandler's on WRC.com thinking about event rotation. So my guess is that 07 will be a nothing event (maybe take APRC away from RoC), and rotated in in 2008.

Rally QOZ
The media release says the rally will be based within 50km of Brisbane.
The stages could actually be anywhere within an even bigger radius couldn't they.

I wondered when someone would twig to that, which means they could possibly come down into northern NSW.
