Little Blue Esky
I'm not a BMSC member but since I love/use the forum so much I probably should be ...
My ride is a 1975 Ford Escort MkII. It began it's life as a rally car in 1998 as a 2L pinto, purchased in 2002 in a tired state but a good foundation for me to learn with. Played in AMSAG in 2003, 2004 and 2005 as a 2L. Replaced this with a 1330 crossflow in 2006 and started in CAMS state events. Reason: the 2L was VERY tired and already 2060cc, cost to rebuild was too high to bring it back under 2L and I didnt want to move to P4 straight up. Had a 1300 sitting around, P1's are cheap to run ... wanted to play at low cost with Mick Long
Current specs, evolving as finances allow:
* 1330 crossflow, decked block, shaved 1300 pistons, 10.1:1 comp, lotus main bearings, balanced rods and crank, lightened flywheel, Kent 244K cam kit, dual chain power pully, dual springs, ported head by JTS
* dual 45mm side draft Webers with Unifilter ram pods, electric fuel pump
* Lukey 2.5" exhaust from Penrith City Exhausts
* RPM high pressure clutch
* 70amp Lucas alternator (Prince of Darkness)
* sierra 5 speed type 9 close ratio gearbox
* single piece tail shaft from Metropolitan Driveshafts
* 5.1 cone LSD (needs rebuild) on cut down capri axles
* M16 front, volvo rear disc calipers with Lucas pads
* King spring front adjustable struts with valved Bilstein inserts
* custom Pedders rear leaf springs with Bilstein shocks
* neoprene suspension bushes throughout
* standard radiator reco by Natrad Willoughby with dual electric fans
* Sparco peddle box, Velo seats, Securon 3" harnesses
* Terratrip 303+/Terraphone pro comms
* 13" 185/70 Dunlops all round from Gary's motorsport on kidney mags
Basically I love the car. It has given me a bit of mechanical trouble but that's mostly due to lack of funds to buy all the good stuff at once, getting there I think (comments welcome). Loving P1 too, it's a great place to hone corner skills without the "nav scaring" high speeds. Plus there's the social aspect with the back runners.

Has anyone ever suggested the 45s are too big for your donk? Or are they choked right down to buggery?

They are jetted down but it breaths well anyway with the ported head and big extractors/exhaust. I'd like to do a full Dyno check on it to make sure and to get the tune right but $$$ wont allow it.

Run the full kit from Kent, double springs, etc.

Most parts yes, but there are local suppliers. You'll get better x-flow help on the Classic Ford forum.

I was thinking the same thing (only just found this thread...) If you want to go to 40s I need to go to 45's after finding out my engine is larger then I originally thought.
