OZtech Tyres at Smithfield/wetherill park used to do a remould/cap on a road car radial.

Used to use them for Motorkhana, they were the SH%^ when you took to them with the Wood Chisel and Brake Fluid.

"Memories" : watching the QLD HSCC boy sweating there **** off at Coff's harbour cutting tyres in the sun while we sat back and drank beer and poked fun....

I'm pretty sure Aussports are still being made - they were advertising in RSM until the end, IIRC. Robo was the South Coast dretailer of 'em, so (at the very least) he should have a contact number.

My local TyrePower has some rally-retreads (usually called "winter treads") in the old Yokie Ao17 pattern. Hume Tyrepower in Yass (just add whitepages.com.au...).

Its what MADCC ( www.madcc.com ) call standard class
by the cars are not completely standard and I think it was as a cost cutting idea and quite good for starting out classes 0 -1600 , 1601 - 2000 and over 2000 are covered under the same rules

engine must be of the same type and size as was avalable aust delivered models only and must be in the standard position in the car ( and look sort of standand ! )
exhuast free from the head 95 db max

all suspention points in the standard positions
springs and shockes are free but must be fitted to the standard mount points and seats

tyres may be road going tyres or rally recap/remoulds

the same amount of carb throats must be used
ie if a 2 barrel carb is standard it may be replaced with any 2 barrel or 2 single barrel carbs

the rear seat, floor coverings , head lining can be removed
and as its hillclimb/autocross rops are not needed but are advised

that mostly covers it

so by the rules my cordia next year will run a 4g62 made to non turbo
it will get a 7000 + cam and comp to suit and so porting
I will knife edge to crank + fit a crank scaper and fit a custom 4140 flywheel
as the 4g62 came out with efi and a single T/B i have picked up a single T/B multi point manifold that will have a 60 mm T/B fitted

I machine all this stuff myself so its not to costly

...and subsequently lost the event to the HSCC people from Qld who used those tyres!

We have a new dunger-fry, too, by-the-way

gtvi2000 has some part of a clue
There's a company in Tassie that makes them if you get that desperate?? Yokohama rally tread pattern, I've used them and they go well for retreads!

If so PM me and I'll put you in touch!
