I'd like to add my approval to adding more For Sale forums to split between Cars, Parts and Wanted sections.

I had a for sale post for 6 months - it disapeared into the blue, someone bumped it and the car sold within a week.
The 'frankly there is no interest' argument is rubbish - if someone bumps their thread every couple of hours then by all means give them an ass ripping, if they do it occasionaly to show that the thing is still for sale I fail to see what the problem is.

How about a definition of how often is OK? Once a week? Every 2 -3 days?
Stu
(not that I advertise much..... but I read most of them so it's sometimes handy to know what's still available)

Personally, I think once per month is OK...

Spac you're out of your mind!
It took 2 days for my car to reach 2nd page. Work that out against your 30 days!
It may improve now the Rally car has its own forum...Thanks again.
I'd be leaning towards 1 week.
I'm happy the forum is that busy, its good for the sport, Bad for business as we're always on it!

Those in favour of bumping because their posts are disappearing too quickly should take note that by allowing bumping, your post will disappear even quicker because of everyone else bumping theirs up and pushing yours down........

Way I'm figuring it:
There are two groups of people reading the for sale ads.
First group are bored people who are just trolling to see what's happening. They will look at 1000 ads before they find something they're even semi-interested in, but they'll look anyhow.
These people view most ads within a day or so of them being posted, so they see all of the ads that they're interested in.
Second group is the serious buyers - people who are thinking "Yep, I want a new rally car". These people are happy to look back through the forums for several pages, and dig around to find what's available. - they're not going to ignore a two-week-old ad just because it's two pages down.
Neither group is helped by bumped ads.
There is a third group, that is made up of forum newbies and people who have recently moved from the first group to the second, who may benefit from ads being bumped - but there's so few of them, that I reckon one bump/month will do.

theres another (ever dwindling) group known as "dialup users" who dont like waiting 10minutes for a second page to load so they only view the front page.
...or maybe thats only me

Yep, thats the best solution, do the ebay category thing to slow down the number of threads/ads per category etc.
Make it happen tort..................
