Whats the big issue with Bumping?
With the For Sale Forum so busy it takes a couple of days for your posted items to be at page 4 etc.
Please explain...

Bumping threads is dumb. If it continues then everyone gets into a bumping war. Its unfair to dudes with new stuff for sale who then get swamped in bumped threads for stuff noone has any questions about, or without any new info (like new price or whatever).
If a thread disappears, frankly its because there's no interest. Bumping does nothing more than generate false interest.
Herewith a proposal for new 'buy and sell' forum rules:
1. No bumping.
2. No bagging of what others are selling.
No bumping is that by any other name as well. So while new posts from the thread starter stating of things like price drops are okay, they need to be legit posts. No posts like "anyone interested" and so on.
No bagging is all about if you haven't got something positive to say, either confine it to a PM or don't post it.
And if a 'buy and sell' thread goes into some technical discussion or off-topic wander, it should be moved to the correct forum rather than get in the way of selling and buying stuff.

I've got no problems with the bagging - either it's a valid point or the bagger looks like a male appendage.
Because this forum is basically close-knit (inter-bred, even) there's not so much room for Teh Keybored Warrior - if you say something unreasonable, it will come back to bite you on the datsun.
Very, very late edit because there are still some newbies reading this thread.
In terms of the bagging, I was talking about comments like "I wouldn't buy that over-priced POS" or similarly provocative stuff.
Comments like "It's too far away" or "I wish I had the money" are not really bagging and are not male-appeange-appearance-worthy.
Posts that are deemed to be pointless/hostile in the For Sale threads will be moderated, just like any other.

No problems with Bagging...
With the recent high level of activity in For Sale how can you determine there is no interest in any post when it takes a day to become 2nd page? How many times do you check the 2nd page for posts? You'll probably say heaps just to prove me wrong but I know I don't and doubt many others would too.
Its a result of the webiste being so popular which is great but don't shoot down people who are just trying to sell their stuff as quickly as they can.

Everyone is trying to sell their stuff as quickly as they can. Everyone's in the same boat. Bumping just makes it harder to see what's new.
If you can't quite manage hitting the button to go to the next page, then set the options for more posts per page. Go to http://www.bmsc.com.au/forums/profil...do=editoptions

Or if anyone wants to buy a VR4 or Evo6 rally car I would think they would maybe do a search? If there's no interest in the cars as soon as they are posted then maybe no one wants one at the moment or they're too expensive?
Oh yeah, now that someone posted "bump" I really should buy that car/diff/half shafts/service truck/compressor.
No one's bought my mags that I have for sale, but I think that's more because no one wants them at the moment, not because I haven't bumped them.
Bumping is stupid. You know it makes sense.

Perhaps the section could be split into cars - parts - other stuff.
That would stop new treads rolling off the front page so quickly..

Correct but how many times have you gone to to forum and seen something on there and thought I could use that, with no intention of searching for said items or wanting the items prior to seeing the post? Just
I think the problem is that people who spend too much time on here are getting an.al about going to a thread and there is no new developments excpet a persons desire to pop it back up the top. Skys not gonna fall in because someone says bump...
I do agree with Ben's idea.
People who want to buy a new car go to " Cars for sale". I don't know how much effort this would take though...

No one in BMSC wants it, maybe send an email to some secretaries of other car clubs in NSW or all over the country. With the CAMS website listing rally clubs for the nation, along with a contact, surely it's not that hard to put a for sale item out there and still not having to spend any money on it?
Or there's always Unique Cars or the Canberra Times or the Daily Telegraph etc. if you want to spend a bit of money to make a bit of money.
Belconnen or Woden car fairs?
Did you put it on allclassifieds.com.au yet?

I've advertised on other rally sites...
People looking for a rally car gonna look in the Canberra Times? I'd say no.
Have you advertised your rims in the Canberra Times??? Why not? Don't you really want to sell them?

Bumping is not a real problem on this site as far as I can see. I have been on some sites where people bump the same ads every few days even if it has not gone off the 1st page yet. Ben's idea would work well as I have seen something like this on other sites as well.
