Split the "For Sale" Forum?
There have been a few suggestions to split the forum into several (or more) sub-forii. Vote in the poll and I'll act according to popular opinion.

Having a seperate forum for "Wanted", largely makes posting WTB ads a waste of time - most people only look in there when they want something themselves...
Having said that, it ****s me to tears when people post wanted ads and are too lazy/stupid to include the word "Wanted" or "WTB" in the title. (And before anyone says "But there's hardly any wanted ads without WTB in the title", that's because the offending titles have been edited by one of your friendly mod/admin team).

Sorry to be difficult, but I found one missing combination that would get my vote:
Cars (sale & wanted)
Parts (sale & wanted)
Other stuff (sale & wanted)

That's a good one. Vote for "Some combination of the above".
Even if we did go for that option, I think I would still leave the Rally Cars For Sale in a seperate forum. It seems to work fine that way.

Is there some way of stopping the reply's to the for sale post's? This would stop any percieved 'bumping', but the seller would have to leave clear contact details, also someway of editing the post if the item is sold.

One of the great things about For Sale and Wanted section on forums is the interaction between buyer and seller - otherwise you may as well have classified ads.
Ozvmx offers both classies and a forum for For Sales, and (based on anecdotal evidence) the forum is a far more effective way to sell stuff.

One thing I would like to see stop, is people signing up to this site just so they can sell some chunka for nothing. Sure its free and has a great veiwing but it is to sell RALLY RELATED items/cars not some road going stocker/burnout machine that has no relevance to rallying.
If they want to sell it do what everyone else has to do and pay $10 and put the car on carsales.com ect, then we can search a rally for sale forum and look at cars and parts that have something to do with rallying.
Other forums have a min posting limit to stop this happening, eg nissansilvia.com you need a min of 100 posts before you can sell anything.
Is this a workable idea, or just and extra pain in the butt for the mods and forum members?

 ... mostly.
Maybe just leave it to the mods (brave I know!!) and let people post rally stuff only, unless you are a regular say 100 post member. I'd hate to see a fellow rally enthusiest not be able to sell rally stuff just because they were post shy. Just delete the rubbish.

I like Chris' Idea. Anyone can sell Rally related stuff, as its a rally site, for ALL non rally related stuff you have to have been a member for a certain period of time or posts. (although posts will give people a reason to put through a whole heap of dummy posts so they can then advertise.)

It's a good idea, but difficult to manage. People will just start to post it in a place that they can, and hope / expect the mods to move it to the correct area.
Nah, better leave it so that it is accessible.

Im not too fussed, but I think we should set up a thread that has rules for selling/posting in the for sale forum to try and stop people selling crap that is in no way rally related (inform them what they can and can't do).
The forum is for ever growing and I think this is something that will be needed in the future.
If it's already in existance then I will shut my trap

But isnt the thing with Rallying that one always needs spares/parts, and old road going stocker/burnout machines are an excellent source of spares and parts.
Take for example Olly selling his road going datsuns, not strictly rally related but I cant think of any other group that could use them more than rally people...

I totally agree and people selling those sorts of things should be encouraged, im talking about the people that for example have a Drift hack with a RB20DET* with all the drift mods and street gear and they are selling it for $15,000.
To me that is not a car that would fit in the Rally for sale forum. There has been a fair few in the past and no one replys to them, so all they are is forum space wasters. This is where some of the problems with "Bumpage" come from.
If no one thinks it's a problem, then leave it as it is and I will shut my trap.

I've just looked at Bogan's definition of rice (Race Inspired Cosmetic Enhancements) and think if the mods see a car ad that is not rally related they should add the word 'RICE' in front of the title so we can ignore them or only read them when really bored!

Those seem to arrive, then fade away very quickly because the posters don't come back and bump them. Just treat them like you treat your children - ignore them and they will go away.
