Loeb wins in Corsica
Citroen team leader, Sebastien Loeb came through to win the Rallye de France-Tour de Corse on Sunday.
Loeb took the lead on the repeat loop on Friday and after that never looked back, extending his lead from 4.8 seconds at the end of day 1 to 27.5 seconds at the end of leg 2.
He eventually finished the event more than 20 seconds up on his nearest challenger, having won nine tests in total from a possible 15.
Marcus Gronholm meanwhile had to settle for the runners-up spot and while he led post-SS4, the Finn dropped back in the second loop on day 1 and then slipped further and further behind Loeb. Second though keeps him top in the drivers' championship, although his advantage is cut from 6 points to 4.
Daniel Sordo took the final spot on the podium, unable to repeat his Rally Catalunya form, which saw him split Loeb and Gronholm - and deprive the Finn of two points.
Dani's third place though, in combination with Seb's win, gave Citroen 16 points from the event, compared to the 9 scored by Ford. As such the French team cuts the gap to the ‘Blue Oval' at the top of the manufacturers', although the M-Sport-run outfit still has a 32-point cushion.
Of the rest, Stobart Ford's Jari-Matti Latvala took fourth, despite a final day squabble with the Subaruof Petter Solberg.
Chris Atkinson was next up in the #2 Subaru WRT Impreza WRC, followed by Skoda privateer Jan Kopecky and Xavier Pons, who took the final drivers' point.
Stobart Ford's Henning Solberg and Dani Sola rounded out the top ten.
