TCC Supersprint @ Wakefield Park 1/6/08
63? starters, a couple of retirements (one very early exit stage left by the dude in the Fiat known only as "that dude who kicks everyone's arse"; smoke of the bad kind). We nearly went home early with a temperamental throttle linkage assembly bizzo but Pete was determined for me to have a go so he bodgyfixed it
Edit:
Linkage to provisionals below!
In other news:
Sam/Jen Austin retired: the motor, she go bang. Excellent 4-wheel slides by the young fella
Darren's work car held up
AJ couldn't wipe the smile off his face all day
Well done Dan, provisionally third outright
Uneventful day, only two or three yellow flags. Cold track though, overcast the entire day. 6 runs but many went home after their 5th.
Many thanks to Dave, Glen, Dom, AJ, Nic and everyone else who made it happen so we could walk around on tar all day AJ and Nic were all smiles... something along the lines of "I'm like 5th in charge today, I asked if they needed help and they said no so I came out here!!!"

From what I can remember rally-type peeps doing:
*Peter Ewing low 1.14 possibly 1.13.8 (PB 1.12)
*Andrew Kohler (Cokesy) low 1.14
*AJ Crowley doing really well in the borrowed Commode ute - that thing hauled
*Jen Austin high 1.21 (on rally rubber) until the motor, she go bang
*Kelly Caruana 1.17
*Nicole Crowley 1.21 I think?
*some chick (Michele Guyer?) in an F1 looking thing won it
*Sam Austin 1.who cares, you shoulda seen him drift that RX-7
*Lizzy Ferme low 1.14 possibly 1.13.8
*Darren Gillis in the HDT VE 1.12?
*Dan Vrubel kicking arse in not-rally car, top ten I believe
*Kerry Smith 1.17???
*Richard Houghton 1.22
Uneventful day, only two or three yellow flags. Cold track though, overcast the entire day. 6 runs but many went home after their 5th.

The track was so damn cold and slippery, I couldn't get heat into the tyres at all - but it was a fun day, well organised and very social. A huge THANK YOU to TCC for putting this event on and to all the officials who helped out - we know how hard it is to get officials and TCC managed a great turn up.

Had a gerat day thanks to everyone
Thanks to all of the officials, And thanks to TCC, I had a fantastic day.
Cold enough that it was not unlike being at a rally.........
Good to meet some new people, and have some laps. Started ot with 1.25's and ended with a days best of 1.20.
The old girl held her head high, No fires, wheels stayed on.
We Drove to the track, laped all day on street tyres, and drove home. Two jerry cans of fuel, and $ for lunch priceless fun.
If anyone has a video i would love to find out what it sounds like from outside, hitting 7,000 and a bit down the straight all I could hear was induction noise
Any photos? no.23
Thanks again, see you next time.

Good Lord!!!!!!!!!!
I knew the V8 would be quick but this concept of having to brake uphill is still messing with my head more than 24 hours later.
A big thankyou to my mate Aaron Hoad for letting me have a drive of the purple SS ute yesterday. He said he owed me after I let him drive my Lancer at Ansell Park in a motorkhana and though it's not exactly a fair swap I'm not complaining!!!!!
My previous best time had been a 1:18.something in my old 2.6 Lancer and I was just hoping to get below that for a personal best. After the first run I couldn't believe it when I saw a 1:16.88 so as the day went on I just kept pushing harder to see what the beast could do. In the end I managed a 1:13.94 and Aaron got a 1:12.41 so hopefully that means I'll be allowed to drive it again one day.
Had some good battles with my father-in-law Rod Mackay driving his Starion. The new intercooler must have worked as he was very hard to shake getting into the 1:14's for his own personal best.
I'm so proud of my wife Nicole in the mighty red Colt. Alas it needs more pace in a straight line but she did great through the bends to give my Dad (white Corolla) and another mate Mario (silver Lancer) something to worry about in their mirrors.
Was great to see Pete and Lizzy pull some quick times in the 'loungeroom' Datto sports sedan after a few mechanical dramas in the morning, and stoked for all the support we got from SKDAC and SDMA at our event.
Finally, thanks to all the officials but especially Glenn Inkster and David Masing for giving me the opportunity to drive again at one of my favourite events of the year. The only thing that would have made it better would have been one or two less drinks in the hotel the night before.
Hope the orange RX7 is not too unwell, was a shame to see Jen and Sam go home early but once again very thankful of their support with us being a bit light on Sydney competitors this year.

Thanks AJ We were a bit worried we'd make for a poor showing with the Rewells out of action, but Darren came to the rescue in a Commode Any word on official results yet? I'm dying to know who set the 1'13.87"... and for the record, if it was me, I had a 4% weight advantage, warm tyres and less fear

I'll second that. Glenn, Dave and Dom Connolly (who was Dummy Grid Biatch) were particularly accommodating when we had so many mechanical issues in the morning, and they didn't evict me off the White Island when I probably should have been

Still spewing I missed it, especially considering the State Supersprint got rained out after just 2 sessions. Then again, I would have gotten hosed by that March - 1.04 is fast! I'm going to need a whole lot more horsepower and a set of slicks to get anywhere near that time....
Well done to everyone!
