After late night consultations with our solicitors Sue,Grabbit and Bolt
I have been informed that the 4 correct calls per event contract is actually classed as an award this allows various tax concessions including Overtime, Meal and Alcohol allowances

We're still classed as a DNF?
We made the finish despite the ritual ditching of the poor GTX, this time only a couple of K's from the end. Thanks to the person who helped us out, I was going to drive off the spare, but logs are good......... lost 12 mins conservatively, cost 14th place.
A bit more committment saw a generally quicker run than previously, though still lacking consistancy. Only problems were an undone rear strut shaft nut, and some grindy/ bangy noise from the front, either a f/l wheel bearing or driveshaft (?).
Otherwise, congrats to all those who made our enjoyment possible, partic Linda Walker, who seemed to pop up everywhere!

Cant agree on that..... As im as rusty as a Datsun front guard the roadbook was pretty good ( No terratrip didnt help either!!!)
Also Canberra is a bugger as you cant read the treeline as there was no trees!
My 2.2 cents,,,,,,,,,,,,,

Well I didn't actually intend on coming down I was blackmailed into it by Annatastic not-so-bright but definitely early Sat morning... waking up unwell Anna called in a favour and after a while we let Dickie and Tams know what the plan was
After a couple of years of never quite matching our schedules, Dickie and I got a run together except it wasn't in the Escort And he made me spew in Tidbinbilla... first time ever after 9 years of rallying... and a few kays short of where Rob unceremoniously hurls every run at that Stage... but I was empty within a few kays and got back to it Second run through I prepared myself (read that as "only made calls he couldn't see") and made it to 25km in before I couldn't risk looking down anymore and Richard was on his own... but I'm glad he got a laugh out of it the rest of the day
(And just so you know Dickie, Claude is NOT HAPPY JAN that you made his nav spew)
Great experience up the front as a course car, will take a lot away with the intention of doing a fantastic job at the Bay this year... I expected the rally to be weel run what with the Tams/BossHair/Kate/etc team on their third or fourth stab at it together... and I was well on the mark with a tops day from any perspective...
Well done to all those who finished, comiserations to those who didn't... Pete/Kim you can thank us for clearing away the hoards of wildlife for you  some other time

From car 43 - Thanks for that and thankyou Misty. That was one of the few corners where we had a bit of speed because it was downhill . Really need to rebuild that engine.

my event was really short... john and i had a wheel bearing collapse on the halda check... big job to replace and didnt have spares so a DNS for us
so went spectating with ray and porbsy, had a top day got a fair bit of footage (which ill put up soon) and got the whole field on a hump and turn left after the mineshaft (most would have seen us all there bare assed or not )
highlight was matt bormans save...dude how did you save that!
hope to be back out there soon (im available for myall stages if anyone needs a nav)

My extra Thankyou's...
* To Simon and Sue Evans for the inspiration and pep talk given to my darling husband which I think enabled him push further than he thought he could.
* To my darling husband for having a real hard go. Yes there were a few moments, but you kept it on the road and that is the main thing I knew you had it in you!!
* To our good-luck-charm Mark Kent - Who now understands not to tell Ian any results unless they are approved by me first
* To Heidi for looking after our kids, as well as her own and bringing them all out to wave to us at the speccie points. Our eldest was quite excited that she saw us go over the mineshaft.
* Fatty and Porbsey for the encouragement from the sidelines and keeping your ar$e in your pants.
* And all those around us on the day. The company on the day always makes the day even better.
* And to get 5th fastest with a flat on stage 1 and 2nd fastest on stage 2.....to say I am stoked is a definite understatement

Car 39 (from the other seat!)
First thing - remind me never to let dad request our seeding again we caught three cars on the first stage!
It was a pretty uneventful day, all in all, actually - except for those rocks in Hyles!! They were horrible - I just saw them coming and braced myself.
We noticed plenty of wildlife too, we saw three kangaroos (two on stage), three emus (all at once on Sugarloaf 1, and we nearly hit them!) and two rabbits which I'm pretty sure we sent to the big burrow in the sky.
Also, did anyone else see/hit a pothole/dip/hump at the bottom of the Mineshaft? Coz we hit something pretty hard at the bottom the first time around!
Only downside/disappointment of the day was our off in Sugarloaf 2 - we literally ran over the sign that said "Mineshaft 300m!!!" Not very good. Although we lost 12-14 mins, surely we should still be classified as finished - on the website we are still DNF?
And I didn't get us beached on the TVHL in I think it was East West.
So great event, thanks to all the assorted officials/road closures/Linda/scruitineers/etc and special thanks to Matt Searle who generously lent us some fuel so we didn't run out on Sugarloaf 2 I was going to buy you a beer when we got back to the club, honest!

We got to stage one finish to find lots of black smoke coming from under the VR4's bonnet... we parked it and found a broken oil line and a reasonable amount of oil lost at the finish control and where we had pulled up outside control. On the trailer with the car and off to help others service and spectate for the remainder of the day.
Thanks to Brad for all the rushing around to get Paul's car (and me) down there for the event and then back home again.
Thanks to Paul for the one enjoyable stage! No result this time but that's rallying.

13 from the Nav's seat
WOW what a grate event!
SS1 Grate run very slippy, just gettin the hang of Tamseys road book!
SS2 Going well untill matt went for 3rd! Crunch Crunch Bugger! Lost it compleatly, Oh well Back to service....
Service one; Matt had decided to withdraw but as i was getting the paper work out as he said "come on lets give it a go"!
Fro had pulled out a good handfull of metal
SS3 Matt took it easy, lost a few minutes but we still had every other gear.
SS4 Made it through ok still flat out in 2nd but dead in 4th!
Service 2; Had everything ready for a gearbox change but decieded not to do it untill the next serive because we only had a 20 minute service and 30minutes of late time!
SS5 Made it through but the gearbox was sounding a bit off.
SS6 30kms! Damm got through using 2nd and 4th for a bit, but lost 4th about 8kms in! Bugger Matt went to go back to 2nd and it didn't move! So the belts came off we thought it was the end, but then Crunch Matt gets it back into 2nd YAY! Off we go flat out in 2nd the top speed was 90 and we had 20kms to go, two cars past us in stage and and Mikey got us in control.
Service 3; 40min service + 23 minutes of late time used but we changed the gearbox and managed to refuel, YAY Thanks to a grate service team and some extra help, what a grate effort!
SS7 Back out to east west (didn't park in any trees just because i wasn't driving) and had a nice start thanks to a few that decided to cop some late time .
SS8 Nice quick stage and back to serivce.
Service 4; nice quick refuel! YAY!
SS9 Lost the notes a bit but got it back (if its not the car playing up it's me ) But matt had a good run.
SS10 A grate stage good run through and i didn't stuff up
We made it to the finnish!
Thanks to;
Matt for giving it a go
Fro (for dealing with hot gear box oil) and all the service crew for a fantastic effort
Those few cars that gave us some extra room ( you know who you are )
Everyone that helped for the event it was fantastic
