Now that's the sort of comment I was fishing for. And Rus you will, especially if they start running in reverse order. Maybe even first car.

Actually, having been stopped in stage a number of times, thats car 36 momentarily catching up to 39 just before the final (and biggest) problem of the day - I'm glad we pulled over for them considering the outcome of SS1 for us.

I can't believe I'm going to say this....
I agree with JME - it was a bit wordy - but only in a couple of places.
I'm very out of practice, but both times through Pierces East and Sugarloaf I lost which corner I was up to with all the RGL, 90m RGR 10m RGL 150m RGR type calls. And we were going slow! I'd hate to have to try to get that out at AWD pace.
The thing to remember though is that the road book is written at walking pace and as Mark has said just about everyone who has been involved in that process over the last few years is a driver, and speaking as an (ex) driver who wasn't happy unless I was cutting 3/4 the width of the car - if there was a hole there I wanted to know about it, Simon who loves airtime wants to know about every hump and crest so he knows when he can hit them flat. Mark and Ray with their dirty (and quick) AWDs want to know a couple of corners ahead so they can string corners together eldrifto style. When you get all those people writing the same road book - its going to be full.
Its a balance act, because you know damn well if you DON'T call something and a competitor bins a $40K rally car - they are not going to be happy with you either.
Tamsey - sorry I didn't have as much input as I (or you) would have liked this year, but thanks for holding the 000 silly seat open for me, I had a ball (even if Simon did try to drive us off a cliff). Good job on the event as always - and that goes to everyone involved. Kate, Mark, Ray, Linda, the stage teams and everyone else that got out there on such a cold miserable day.

We did a 43 something- Kaz saw it on the cards- and now it's a 1 hour 26? We only lost 13-14 mins, as those at the Mineshaft will testify.
As for the roadbook, I'd rather have stuff in than out, but then I'm not going that fast.
Darren, sorry if I gave you a hard time in SS1, I thought we'd done well or you had further probs, as you didn't turn up at control behind us.

Hi Kev,
Sorry, my stuff up. I'll get Paulie to update your information.
Sorry, just tired and looking at the wrong place on your timecard.

Hey kev,
we didn't end up cutting the fence although i would have and not have had to rewire the exhaust several times on the way home. . . .. .if i had used 3.2mm wiring the exhaust would have held all the way home, however i felt it was a bit unfair on the farmer, if i had cut his fence, and had to come back and repair it on the next day. so , tiewire was used, there on the exhaust, and in the fusible link.

Well all i can say is BUGGER, after running in about 11th outright and swapping times with Mikey again at night was great cant wait for the Bay.
Stage 1, drove like a girl ( from the result of the big hit at tommerong with Dean), just could not get into a grove nailed the speccy point then started to find some sort of rythm.
Stage 2, wasnt to bad starting to get the feel back and have a go. Then as we were goin down the fence line i could see down the road and it was fairly straightafter each hump so in to it just about flat in 4th we hit a hump and the landing was a bit hairy and the comment to Rus was, is there a caution in there dude? answer Yep i just didnt have time to get that out whilst he was giggling to himself i didnt think it was funny from there to the end of stage all went well
Stage 3 & 7, Well wat can i say i love this stage even though i has claimed my gearbox a couple of years back had a bit of a go in here and towards the end of the stage there was some guy (not to mention any names Rowdy) standing on the RGHL before the end of the stage with his pants down and his Bum in the air, (Rowdy you need a tan),
on the second run through here had a red hot go and all came together with a top 15 time was great again till i came apon Rowdy again u all know the drill now.
Stage 4 & 8, As Rus said loved it first time through hated the second time through
Satge 5 & 9, Nothing to much to report on this one cant really remember it
Stage 6 & 10, Had a good run through here all goin well on the first run through got to mineshaft and crapped myself bein the first time over it and not wanting to have my name remember for havin a big off going over here, so i just drove over not far after the mineshaft flying along over a hum and up to the RGL on crest and there is that fellow competitor the can be a pest standing there with his pale bum swinging in the brezze through it at the corner hoping not to hit Mr day and the off to the finish of the stage with no problems, Then comes the re-run of the stage all goin well until somewhere in the first 24 km i have hit something hard and bent the steering arm alll felt fine until the corner that claimed us when the car didnt seemed to want straighten up and understeer off the road basically stoppin on the soft edge of the road untill it gave way sending us into a series of 3 rolls and ending up 26 metres of the road into the unknown Rally over for us.
A big thanks to the recovery crew that got us out without damaging the car anymore very apprieciated.
Tamsey and the gang thanks for a great event will be back.
Rus thanks for the great job u did all day sorry for rolling it on you.
Dean for the loan of your DMS and the preperation and servicing you did was great thanks.
Now for a 5 week rebuild before the Bay bring it.
See you all at the bay
A photo of how far down we went.

This is actually a genuine question, I am curious as to what would be the best way through this corner. I am talking RWD here.

ps. top video girlie appreciate it.

The front runners were stuffing it up, at least partly because they've got less time to see the corner/work out how to approach it, and because there's no tracks to follow.
It is a difficult corner, even though its always been called "HTS" (or similar).
Very few people genuinely tried to follow a line through the corner and keep their speed up - most do a less-severe version of Bywrong (I think it was Bywrong), where the braking, turning and accelerating are basically mutually exclusive.
Stuart's line in looked like a winner, even though other things went wrong for him.
All in all, I reckon GT, Mikey and Matt Searle get the silverware for each of their respective car types. Honourable mention goes to Boormat who has prompted me to get the Volvo going again, before he improves to the point that he's faster than me...

Thanks to all, and particularly to Will, Kiralee, Brendan and Julie for help swapping bits in the weeks prior... engines, diffs, alternators. Thanks to Brendan for a good job in the nav seat in dead reckoning mode.
For the event I put a locked diff in the 323, and so I discovered understeer for the first time. Lockers are poo!
The following report is entirely factual and accurate. Any parts that resemble BS, are clearly a facet of your own distorted reality.
1st transport we realise the tripmeter cal is out. Also realise I forgot to add a way to reset the cumulative without reseting the calibration.
SS1 was pretty bad just trying to get a handle on the changed handling. Highlight was after 2 fishtails onto the road running by the Parkway, decided bugger it and chucked in another for good measure... only to spear into a boggy section next to the road and almost get bogged. On the other had, without the the locker we would have got bogged in the only mud in Canberra.
Before you ask, we did not go through the SS1 speccy point. Never happened.
Early on we realised the RedMist tripmeter was poo, later confirmed when sitting on the start line with the tripmeter ticking over. At the time I was thinking gaffa-taping the circuit boards together and slinging them in the glovebox just might have contributed to the problem. A bit more analysis (a.k.a. guess) points to the expedience of running a unshielded probe lead through the engine bay, combined with a high impedance input, was to blame. It was strange that my rigorous test program, that consisted of plugging it all in, jacking up the wheel and giving it a spin, did not identify these faults.
Another highlight was watching the bunch of people at the jump after mineshaft starting to leg it as we drifted over top of the ruts and apparently looked in a bit of bother. Rest assured the crew was all calm and collected, the situation was well in hand.
When we found the leaking radiator, I thought I had a cunning plan to fix it, taught to be by Simey. I grabbed the sachette of Pepper I had procurred only that morning and dumped the contents in the radiator. Note... McDonalds pepper is course ground, and big lumps of pepper do nothing good for your cooling system. A curse on that Ronald clown!
On the bright side a newly installed Commodore alternator and the BodgeMat (tm) bracket worked. Probably first time I have done a long stage with the driving lights on all the way.
In the later stages, I did find that the one thing the locker was good for was the tight turns uphill. Those things actually became a lot of fun with a line to drive and some acceleration up the hill, instead of the old routine of basically stop and then churn uphill in 1st. Probably the only corners I had the confidence to attack properly

I say "Bullsheet..."
Theres no way in the world you were calm and collected.
By the way your arms were working one would think there was a swarm of bees in the car.
Best defination of "Makin Pizzas" I have ever seen.
Your lucky you didn't crash, we'd had a few cans in us and we would have heckled you till sweep came in...

Your such a compassionate man Raymond. You didnt see us bagging you out after the Bega roll did you (manly cause I knew it was gonna beseveral more weeks of late nights work)
You shouldnt have time to get on here anyway. Get in the shed and fix that engine, 5 weeks and counting butt plug.

I got in trouble after coming through past Ray, Forbsy Etc. Dad decided I had the red mist through there and till the end of stage!!!!
I love that little jump, although struggled to get any speed up to get off the ground properly, I think after getting a little bit of air on the mineshaft, then there, and then running wide on the exit to a corner and almost dropping a wheel into a gutter Dad was a little concerned I was getting "over eager" and was going to do something stupid!!!
