The fact that 3rd place trophies have been 'held back' while it all gets weighed up hopefully shows to competitors in the Lakes event, and competitors thinking of running next year, that the event is important and NDDC haven't just added the event to spin some dollars and bulk up the field- which has been the rightful criticism of some other events.
Absolutely. The Lakes competitors were definitely treated like part of the "main event", unlike some other events. No 2nd class treatment at all.

Graham has shown his true colours agreeing that the timing thing is an issue and promising to look into it. With some other directors I'd have thrown my money on the table, but Graham's good for his word and I'm happy to accept whatever he finds/decides.

P.S ive got a fully caged, but stripped out rolling shell no rust, never been rallied, sitting in a shed out of the weather, which mite come in handy.

Cheers

i have no idea what time we did on ss2 all i know was we was we cought John Joiner at the end of ss2.and went over the line behind him .So look at his time and take 2 mins off that and thats what time we did. If we had known there was a sheep station on the line we would have could have put the 4 new ones on at the start like we did but then put some more on as this was a wrc round wasnt it ..... then we wouldnt have got 4 falts in the last 4 stages . Thanks to Graham again for a great event.
any questions ask !!!

WELL

So where do I start , Thanks to all that have phone and messaged me
Mel and I both are OK very tired and sore . Mel has got so days off but for me I'm in Dubbo for work (came up last nite)

Stage 1 : it was tops loved it very fast

Stage 2 : the same as stage 1 but 22km in no good came to a right hander
R8 and became a lot tighter the rear of the 1600 it the lose stuff
couldn't power out of it as I was in 3rd gear on the noise hit the
bank and rolled 7 times .

So my beloved 1600 is not the best (don't now if I want to cry) so my rallying days many be over as I want buy a house . So I'll have to think it over . So for now I'll be crewing for other people or officialing

SO I'LL SEE YOU IN THE FOREST

After some late nights and a last minute entry as usual my first pace note rally didn't go exactly to plan. I had the best accomodation I could ever want - Myall Shores Resort, an experienced pacenote navigator/teacher, an enjoyable Saturday of pace noting and a Saturday night of laughs with a full stomach. None of this helped on the Sunday. Firstly, the trip meter would not switch on. Ok that we can live without at this event. Then we took off on the start of stage one when before I knew it the oil light started flicking on and off - damn. Now I only just got the car running with a fresh engine because I broke the last one by running the oil out of it and then ignoring the oil light as you do. I decided to cruise to the end of the stage with the idea I could maybe stay in the running if I could sort out the problem - A silly thought really when you think about it. When I pulled up I noticed an intermittent but loud noise coming from the front of the engine. Ok, something is bad. I decided to pull out of the event and went off to work out what had ended my day so early. Well it turned out to be an electrical problem with the oil light and an idler bearing for the alternator belt - Is this car kidding or what? If only I had a good old fashioned oil pressure guage to prove the oil pressure was sweet and engine was fine. I am still kicking myself but still had a most enjoyable weekend away with my new car club. I guess there is always another rally but gee do I have to wait another 12 months for a pace note rally with such a cool and relaxed format? I think some rallies need to take note on this one. I may have only done a few k's on them but pace note rallying seems to be just kick butt fun. Why aren't there more of them in NSW?
Contratulations to all the winners in what looked like to be survival of the fittest. This is proving to be a car tester rally for sure.

To Judy, Graham, Col and 80 odd officials (including the two gate crashers that slept on our Villa floor) thanks for making this such as successful rally. It will only get better.

Hey Sosi, thanks for not giving me car 13 this time but 10 didn't help either. You got any others for the next rally?
Brad: Mate your rally days may be on hold but never over buddy. Go get your house with a nice big garage and I am sure one day sooner than later you will have a nice yellow 1600 parked in it. I think you should go buy the roll cage builder a beer too.

Car 1 - Myall Lakes Rally

What a great event! Great roads, great weather, topped nicely with a 1st outright – can’t complain! A result that would have put us at 7th O/R in the state event. Not bad for a little Mirage

Noting on Saturday was very smooth and went very well. Sunday was great. Molly drove faultlessly all weekend. No car dramas so service was merely tyres fuel food

Thanks to

# Molly for the offer to run the event with her. I had a great time.
# Mark and Coral for all their help – service, food, laughs etc
# Shab for having a pin head like me – oh and for the loan of his helmet
# Rally mum Bek Flett for all her rally mum goodness
# Graham, Judy, Col, Frank, all the organisers and officials

Totally agree – had no problems with that at all and it seemed to flow very well with the 5 min gap.

Commiserations to those who didn’t finish but particularly Brad and Mel – that photo doesn’t do justice to the extent of the annihilation of that car

Oh and apologies to Matty for the omission at the presso – DCW FTW dude

Car's 112 off

Hi All,

Firstly thanks for everyone for the help we received in our first rally. Everyone was very helpfull and encouraging.

Our weekend was full of bad luck. Starting with the Stanza dying Friday night, which ment we missed Recy. Only got the car fixed proberly 8.15am Sunday morning!

Yes. We were the other big off in stage 2. Something let go in the rear on the way down the hill. Probably because I pushed too hard in stage 1, in which I drove the last 4kms on a flat and was still happy with my time. Does anyone know what time car 112 got on stage 1?

We are OK but a little sore, but nothing other then a little whiplash.

Here is a pic of where we ended up.

Is it me or is it that the unlucky people that have gone off at somepoint end up having big accidents, or is it i am taking more note of these after Deanos and my hit at tomerong.

Its a shame that it happens but just goes to show how good a rollcage is these days.

Commiseratrions to all with bent cars i know how you all feel.

I just want to say a BIG thankyou to the NDDC for putting on such a great event, it was a very calm and relaxed atmosphere throughout the whole weekend, a great way to introduce people to pace noting without the stress.

Our weekend started well, only one or two arguments in recce breezed through the day with plenty of time to spare, we only had notes from the beginning of stage 2 and the beginning of the second half of stage two to start with, and for obvious reasons we didnt want to rely on them . We had a bit of a chuckle at the crash site, then remembered we were supposed to be writing notes

We flew through the first stage, all good, came to the second stage , we were going well, pushing really hard, then we came to a Lg L 4, which we didnt quite get around, we don't have incar so cant go back and look, but i was thinking it was me not getting out the Long or very long bit on the call, either way it was a noting error, anyway, we went off at 113kms into the bush, did a bit of mowing, then backed it into a few trees so as not to damaged the front end (there were some big trees coming our way), we thought that it was all over, but then quickly chucked it in 1st, spun the wheels, got back up the embankment onto the road and only lost 30secs, a lucky crash that could have ended in tears.

the next two stages we took a bit cautious, we werent sure of trusting the notes, so we lost a bit of time, then we realised that we better pull our finger out or we would be left behind quickly.

We started pushing again on stage 3 & 4, and made up some time that was lost. (minus a rear wing, and carrying some extra race tape to ensure the shopping stayed in the boot)

The last two stages would have to be the quickest either of us have ever gone on the dirt, our top speed shown on our log was 180kph. Its so hard trying to describe the feeling of going that fast in the bush, awesome comes to mind, definiately an adrenalin rush to say the least. At no time was i scared, even the crash didnt phase me so i think i am getting the hang of this co driver stuff

I also want to say a big thankyou to Michael again for letting me back in the car and for all the effort in getting to this event, as everyone knows the last time he was here it was not so good, and that was definiately on his mind a lot leading up to the weekend, he drove really well, again, safe and consistant and .

Congratulations to Nathan & John, Molly & Kate, a top effort put in by both teams, and their service crews . Thanks to Bryan and Jimmy, for pushing us back into the competition, and making sure we didnt slow down too much .

Thanks again to our service crew, Tony, Wayne, Kerry & Des, sorry we made you work a bit harder this time round

Our commiserations to Brad/Mel & the crew in Car 112, we know how your feeling

A a big thankyou to Graham, Judyth, Col and all the officials that gave up there time for us to have fun.

last but not least, thanks for the excellent trophies, we couldnt ask for much more than that
