Oran Park Dirt Circuit
Hills District Car Club ran a Dirt circuit at Oran Park today, and most of the Western Sydney Rally fraternity supported it....
It was an important event for our club and we needed it to be successful ...... so it was great to see so many rally people respond to the call, and get behind the event.
Lots of Rally peeps (and there wives) came out to play and have a shakedown for the new season.
Results were:
1st: Carlos Casmiri - VR4....( minus Sosi)
2nd: Kevin Shaw - Evo7 .....( first run-very nice car)
3rd: Ric Cary - GSR .....
4th: Darren Gee - Mazda GTX ( first speed event - very quick- running state possibly )
Extremely close ........These 4 swapped times all day and were seperated by fractions of seconds in the end.
First 2wd was David King (young AMSAG Davo- Not the ARC Proton driver) in a 200B. Davo won the only 2 AMSAG events he competed in in 2002 and is running state and ACT Clubman with Felicity Anderson (Kari's ex-nav)
I think Jamie Waterhouse was 2nd in the WRC 120Y ..... 2.4 litre grunter....IRS .... an AMSAG weapon. Brad Arnold (1600) was also fast.
Kevin Gavin (SBCS) brought out the ex-Grindrod Commodore and couldn't take the smile off his face.
Peter Grindrod ran in Shane O'Hara's (Ex Nunn) Commodore and fanged it like only a smash repairer can.
David Thompson, David Hey, Aaron Topliff, Mick King, Mel Mazzei, Haggers...... all supported the event. Sponsorship came from Mick King Auto, Jamie Waterhouse Auto, Pedders, Callaghan Truck Wash, Specialised Brake and Clutch, Stout Rd Smash, Shane O'Hara Mechanical, Sportsclassic....... hope I haven't forgotten anyone.
Great day - 8 runs, no accidents .......over 60 entries- heaps of lady drivers and juniors.

Cool to hear about this kind of thing... saw it on the NSW Yahoo-poop, and wanted to go, but weddings got in the way.
Can you give us a breif description of the Dirt Circuit? Distance, configuration, surface? I'd be interested if its on again (and doesn't clash with prior engagements).

Looks like someone will be buying the first round of drinks at the Hastings Hotel this weekend. Anyway, should be a very interesting event for Clubman honours.

From my point of view, thought it was a great day
every one got a fair go and it all happened in a orderly fashion.
Hagger,David Hey and I have a ball trading times
Still don't know how David reeled off a low 52, it got me buggered.
Oh well maybe next time

Maybe next time a notice could be posted on the time/date.
Sounds like good fun.

Bosshair That’s it. I’m leaving a hole in the floor under your seat so you can have a moment like Marcus Gronholm’s navigator, when you take a rock up the !@#$.

swabbing of David Hey
I still don't believe David "Kohonas" Hey's time. Even though my tyres were buggered I still couldn't see how to "come any faster" as Tommi would say.
Kohonas Hey needs to be swabbed from now on!!
