Loeb was also very surprised to learn they were competing on a stage in a National Park Reserve... "How did they (the NSW Government) get away with that?"

 DNF mechanical.
Car broke on 2nd stage on Sunday, which was always going to be the toughest day of the rally
Bottom bracket on rear strut parted company with strut. Tried to fix and limp out, but ran out of late time.
We were improving all weekend, ok on the twisty stuff, but notes completly wrong on the uber fast stuff (90% of the rally) but you live and learn.
pushed the car to the limit of the car on tweed 5 & 6 SS on saturday night and got some good times.
Rally was still Uber fun, awsome amount of spectators, and Pierelli WRC tires FTW
may or may not still have a set
Ill post a full report after sleep, and lots of it.
Ben.

Part of Loeb's surprise may be that in Europe the term 'National Park' is used only for the most pristine 'natural wonder' type areas whereas in Oz we apply it to any native bush reserve funded by the Feds...

Pity that you couldn't have in-car - it would have been fantastic to relive and work out what you could have done better etc.
Well done

So obviously the teams weren't properly briefed as to just exactly where they were going & what to expect.

Sorry, my bad... but that's what I meant to type (hey, I'm at work and it's getting in the way of important thing!)
Nigel and Bryan... I wouldn't swap ANY of our NP&W reservers (or Heritage Listed areas) for ANYTHING in Europe!

Results on the Rally Info site have Loeb 2nd, they list it as Rally Australia (Queensland).
Results before Robespierre appeals,

I would like to thank Welby and Marcus for helping out with the stage flashes. They joined Simon, Adam, Garry, Sarah and Michael in getting all the info we needed to get the info out. We had our challenges doing this. All part of the fun!
The teams had to scrabble for a position at the end of the stage with all and sundry. They all did a great job.
The role of the flash story is for the over 100 journos who attend the rally but do not go out into the field. they form the backbone for their media stories. They are put up on the web for everyone to see. We generated over 90 pages of info.
Thanks again.
