Final outright top three results at the end of the event appear to be:

1. Geoff Portman / Ross Runnalls
2. Brad Goldsbrough / Aaron Topliff
3. Jeff David / Grant Geelan

Kari and Tim nudged a tree about 5kms into the last stage, but unfortunately got stuck on a bank. Andrew Bell / Correne Seabrook had started the stage just before Kari, and went off the road about 2 corners after where Kari + Tim went off. They heard Kari + Tim stop, so they ran back to help them get the car off the bank. Kari + Tim then drove up to 2 corners to get Andrew + Correne's car back on the road, then both cars proceeded to the end of the stage.

Think both cars lost about 10 mins in that last stage, so will have dropped down the leaderboard a fair way.

Goldy got a flat, so lost ~ 1:50 mins but - with the demise of Kari and Andrew - still enough to keep 2nd O/R behind Portman.

Word is now filtering in that Fro has gone off on the same corner as Kari + Tim, but with more gusto and managed to tagged the tree front centre. Fro and Paulie are OK; not sure yet how big the bandaid on the B will be.

Brendan Mulhearn got a bit of a rap
Just registered on pure motor sport tv site. Checked out S12 of Brad Goldsborough at the Alpine. Check out the 2 'offs'! One at the 4.20 mark and the other at 6.16 ... phwee!

Would like to know the top speed and average speed of this stage?

Yep all those conspiracy theories must be true, a couple of Victorians seem to have won the Alpine. Of course it has nothing at all to do with the fact that Portholes is simply a bloody awesome steerer and Ross R is arguably the best nav Australia has ever seen (or heres another idea for the conspiracy theorists... was it simply an ARCom plot to get one of their number to the win?)

Ah-ha... see, it is rigged... damn Victorian trees!

Oops... that wasn't meant to happen... must have been a case of mistaken identity by those who hide in dark places and apparently that set out to make sure that it is all biased in favour of us Victorians

OK enough pi55taking by me... This helping each other out by Andrew, Correne, Kari & Tim really is a wonderful example of what this sport is all about! Well done to all of you!

Bugger.. but great to see him hang in there for 2nd O/R!

It has been awesome watching his runs via the puremotorsport video thingys... I'm absolutely awestruck at watching his speed and control.

I agree,Ross has to be one of the best navs...He had a good year too, winning the Classic outback trial with Naishy, now the Alpine. Well done Ross!!

Great result, by all accounts a great event, great drive by Jeff David to come back to third, Goldy to hang onto second and Portholes just hanging about in contention waiting! if that other bloke has finished with the excuse book he might want to lend it out, sounds like there are 100's of all buts and if only's ready to be used. Might have to put this event on the better have a crack list for the future

We came and we conquered. I was not always sure we would make it but we did and I am stoked and had a ball. I will be back again. I need to put some thank you's out there so will do that before I fall asleep on the computer.

Spac - For letting me tell him where to go for 3 days. Bring on 2011!
Michelle Stewy - For the accom organisation. Awesome place!
Simey & Boormat - For their fantastic service efforts! You guys rock.
Uncle Chris - For driving us from Adelaide and being our official.
Ethan - For always following me around at all these events I do.

I also want to thank all the "randoms" for popping over and helping out with servicing and other needs as required i.e. Anna, Matt Searle, Frinky and friend, Jason and his brother, Phill and Nick and anyone else who popped over and helped.

Seeing as I need to leave at 6am to head to Adelaide, time for sleep. Ethan is already snoring his head off after his efforts this morning.

Lisi (yes, I know I have "login" hijacked again! )

Another Great Alpine Rally. Even the no wheel spin rule seemed to work ok. Minimal road damage at the start controls.
Congratulations to the winners and those that managed to finish. It was a difficult event with heaps of dust and loose surfaces. Some very fast sections mixed in with tight and technical stages.

For me it was mixed emotions, as this was to be my last event, I was hoping for a reasonable result. Not to be however with several problems hampering the Fiat.

Thanks to the service crew for changing the gearbox in such quick time and to Bill Dun for offering me the drive. Bill is an enthusiast who loves the sport and it is people like him that make this sport special.

My if only list includes.
1.Faulty Rev Limiter on the Pro-log severely limiting performance (Removed and chucked in the bin, OK after that
2.Engine would only drop back to 4000rpm making it difficult to change down gears.
3.Broken 3rd gear, due to above I think
4.No brakes on a very fast stage after damaging a wheel on a rock
5. 14mm to-out on the tarmac, made for some interesting handling
6. 60 minutes in penalties due to OLT Rule
7.No intercom on the tarmac and on one other stage. Jigger did a great job with hand signals.
8. Two spins on the night stages one to the Left and one to the Right, just to keep things in balance

My biggest complaint was everyone at the pointy end were DRIVING TOO FAST.

Cheers
Wayne Bell
