Thanks Rick and your team for a great event, and for your help and understanding for our usual last minute preperation.
This was a great rally for us to finally get back up to a decent speed, and feel happy with the car for the first time in a long time.
Stage 1 & 2, I was still bedding in the brakes and got the boys to bleed them at the service. The next few stages was just getting a good feel for the car, the only changes getting Hilly to soften the suspension more all round. The first couple of night stages, gave a bit to much time back to Pete & Dave, so Jo kicked me in the arse and said drive faster!. I have not done much night rallying for years and it did take a bit to get my focus.
The competition is looking up in the state series, and this was a great battle with Pete, I think we were both trying pretty hard. I hope this will continue for the rest of the year.
I am very lucky to get a lot of help, some large, some small but it all helps.
Thanks to Garry Harrison, Dunlop, for your ongoing support
To Kev, Specialised Brake and Clucth
Micheal South (for tunning a real car, I will convert him one day)
Paul Andrews, for a great turbo
Steve Bell, who goes out of his way to help
Murray Coote, is always a pleasure to deal with
Coll Hill, must hate friends with rally cars
Quinno, Mick, Darrel and Alexander, I am slowly converting Mick and darrel to the -4WDs can be fun also side. I hope they might give me 8 out of 10 at the specy point!
Mum, My longest supporter
And to Gerald and Jo for making it a good fun family weekend.
And to my partner Jo, for all her ongoing support, and for doing a great job in the car. I dont know how she sits next to me.
Thanks, John M

Congrats to you & Jo on a great drive John.
Speaking with Pete yesterday & he is looking forward to the rest of the year ahead.
He really enjoyed the battle on the stages & the friendly social atmosphere between stages with you, Giddo, Jamie & Bryan.
A bit of refining with the pace notes & they will be good to go at Coffs. They have a cabin at the park next to the showground.

Event report from Car 24
Firstly thankyou to Ric and his team for making this event happen!!
I had a ball all weekend, no major issues with the car except it just cutting out on one stage!! still havnt found the problem .. I was abit rusty to start off with, but was expected since my last rally was last October.. I made a few easy mistakes in the first two stages.. the second one nearly cost me the rally!! It was on the second corner of the second stage.. ran wide and was heading for the trees, but thankfully hit the bank and bounced back on the road.. i took it alot easier after that!
Arron did a great job in the nav seat.. didnt make one mistake.. he is a top bloke and i learnt alot from him..and thanks for putting up with me all weekend!!
We finished 8th outright won P2 and was second 2wd behind the Porshe, i was over the moon with this result.. didnt bend the car for once ..
Thanks to my service crew!! and also Jamies service crew.. for letting us use his tent and his truck!! And thankyou to all the competitors for your positive comments And also all those phtographers out there in the forest putting up with all our dust!!
I hope too see you's all at Bega!!
Adam..

Event Report for Car 4 Roberts/Darby
Stage 1
Bit of an issue with the tyre gauge resulting in having to run the rear tyre's at 45 psi. No issues in stage up until 5km's from the end when the the vacuum pump fuse blew resulting in a rock hard brake pedal which nearly caused an off on a downhill right. Pete was pushing as hard as he could on the brake pedal & had Darbs pulling on the handbrake to pull the car up to narrowly avoid an accident. Backed off slightly after that moment to stage finish setting 2nd fastest 4 secs off John & Jo.
Stage 2
Dave replaced blown fuse & Pete got to adjust the rear tyre pressures. Boys decided that the rally was not going to be won on this stage but could be easily ended in this stage as it was very slippy & tight in places. Drove as smooth as possible & very surprised to be fastest ahead of Bryan/Jim & 2 up on John/Jo.
Stage 3
Had decided that this was a stage to attack so pushed hard from the start, had dust mid stage & also towards the end. A pace note issue left Pete driving the last 3km's blind, but he didn't feel he lost to much time. 2nd on stage 4 secs behind John & 7 up on Bryan, both Jamie & Charlie setting times not far off the pace.
Stage 4
John & Jo had an 8 second lead going into this stage so Pete & Darbs decided to push hard & attack this stage. All was going well until about 5km's in when Petes pacenote for 1 corner was a bit faster than the actual corner resulting in a high speed off road excursion before regaining the road. Boys thought for sure they would of had a flat tyre or damaged steering so continued on at a reduced pace to end of stage, dropping another 6 secs to John.
Stage 5
Pete unsure if any steering component damage from the previous off as not enough time at 10 min service to investigate thoroughly. Drove this stage cautiously & didn't push 100% 4th fastest dropping another 4 secs to John now 18 secs behind.
Stage 6
Boys pushed hard & had no issues in stage, Gained 1 sec back from John.
Stage 7
Boys continued to push on this stage, had bit of a dust issue mid & towards the end of stage. Gained another 7 secs back from John, gap now down to 10 secs.
Stage 8
No other option other than to push hard on this stage. Pete forgot to turn driving lights on but didn't seem to cost them to much time. Gained another sec back from John. Gap now down to 9 secs.
Stage 9
Had another fuse blow on the vacuum pump & had to drive the last 5km's of stage at a reduced pace effectively ending their battle with John & Jo. dropped 7 secs to John & 1 to Charlie who was setting some great times.
Stage 10
Boys pushed hard in this stage but dropped another 2 secs to John with Charlie only 2 secs behind. Johns lead now out to 18 sec.
Stage 11
Pete told John at start of stage that he will be pushing maximum 100% so both crews attack the stage, boys had a little dust mid & last few km's of stage but no other problems. Pete & Darbs both agree that they could not have gone any quicker & finish stage 4 secs up on John & 14 secs behind overall to finish 2nd O/R after a fantastic battle with John with Charlie nipping at our heals not far behind.
Well done to John & Jo, Bryan & Jim set some really good times & it was a shame for them to retire on the last stage.
Giddo & Damo had bad luck breaking the power steering on a rock & we feel for sure that Giddo & Bryan will be on the Pace at Coffs.
Both Pete & Dave are looking forward to Coffs. Pete Hasn't competed their since 2000 & having everyone again on notes takes away local knowledge advantage.
Pete was also impressed with the drive of the rally by Adam in the honda beating the porsche on a couple of stages & finishing a fine 8th O/R.

I uploaded the footage from that speccy point last night that you referred to.
YouTube- Lithgow Rally 2010 Stage 4 The Summit ,trouble finding the corner.
I also added this piece which is the start of Stage 2 with the steep climb up the hill from the start.

Ari tells me he really nailed the corner in a Vatanesque flourish which I unfortunately missed.

Hi Brett,
I saw some of the vids on Youtube, did you manage to get any video of car 38 way down the back...We also had a few goes at the Bindo Speccy point right hand on double crest thing...
Haggers mentioned it was pretty funny to watch so I'm keen to see it...
Plus any others you have...

I've done a road closure on that intersection where the spectators were, everyone always takes a stab at that clearing on the right (including me) before seeing the intersection. Many a comedy in-car moment has been had there before.....

Haha...Especially when you try and learn your lesson from the first run through and on the second pass ignore that initial instinct to brake and be traveling a little more stupidly fast into the actual corner.
