2010 PCD Mini Corsa
Thought I'd start things off with a placeholder for a more detailed report later.
We started...we didn't finish. Bundy'd off into a rock on Tidbinbilla bending multiple suspension parts.
Car was going quite well given recent dramas.
Also found out we weren't getting full throttle...so there was more fasts available!!
We were up around 7th at the time...so given where the cars development is up to, I'm pretty happy.
Huge thanks to Nerida and family for letting me be in the shed all the time, Damo for burning the midnight oil after the Wakefield incident, Club Munyard for general assistance, Tort for some tuning help. And others for inspiration.
We'll be back.
M

Had a good time doing 00,
gearbox syncro's caused some issues with gear selection and gradually got a bit worse - starter motor solenoid gave up at the start of ss5..
Thanks to all that have helped me to get it back out and have a run - in particular:
simey leigh for trailing arm welding goodness and a bunch of other help;
moonie at revell for his help with suspension bushes;
JW / PCD for driveshaft lurve;
Murray Coote / Stewart Wilkins - Murray for great rear shocks - Stewart for some great fitting advice;
H from ALLMAKE Windscreens;
Aaron, Mawk & the LCCC crew generally, for helping with the servicing gear and other bits and pieces;
Paul for navving and keeping his right leg away from the gearstick :-)
everyone that helped push it to get it going yesterday arvo;
Ray; Porbes and co. for their "entertainment" from their road closure;
Naomi / Gemma for giving Marla a hand with the kids out at the service point;
"Mrs Gary's Motorsport Tyres" who gave my 2 year old son a Dunlop hat and made his world..
and of course to Marla for putting up with the shed time required to get it back out there
Thank you
j

Notes to self...
1. Events with 'Corsa' in the title are jinx events for us
2. Carry spare Alternator and Power Steering Belts in future
3. Keeping hard on the throttle at all times reduces oil consumption past faulty valve guide seals
4. Driving 38km in Tidbinbilla in dusk then darkness with no headlights is, um, 'interesting'...
5. DNFing on the final transport only 10km from the final control sucks huge amounts of arts...
6. Withdrawing voluntarily, while being a big disappointment, was the right thing to do
Event report to come later...

Photos
howdy all,
many thanks to Mark for inviting me to participate as a photographer. as a 100% amateur it was indeed a privilege to be offered the opportunity and hopefully these early examples from yesterday will be enough to consider me for the next event.
these are from 3 stages, using two camera and lens combinations:
Stage 1 - Zoo Pipeline
Stage 4 - The Vomitron
Stage 6 - Bluetts 2
I've taken photos of all cars competing in the above stages and once I have sorted the wheat from the chaff I'll upload to our webpage and leave a link in this forum for viewing (hopefully no later than mid-week).
once again, many thanks, espesh to the officials and marshalls who had to put up with me.
cheers,
Wayne

Trying to get the seeding out of the way quickly (as I have a 3 event backlog at the moment)...
Aiden Falvey = Timothy Falvey?????
Timothy was listed for Bega, and Aiden for the NDDC rallysprint and Corsa. Are they the same person? If so, which is their real name and which is their alias?

From the silly seat.
Well much to say really except look out for this one!
Stage 1 was great Tim drove very well we managed = 3rd.
Stage 2 Once again Tim drove really no over shoots very tidy and very fast another = 3rd
Stage 3 Took off from the start with a massive BANG! Turns out that the Diff didn't wont to stay in Oh at least Dad was at the start of the stage and we had only driven 400m down the road.....
Thats rallying I still had a ball!
Thanks to all the officials for a wonderful event and to the Cullens for lending the trailer to us.
Massive thanks to Timothy Wilkins for getting his car ready in two weeks for me

I have to say that this was a great rally, and the photos above look fantastic!
I saw it like this:
Stage 1: Front right tyre went flat going onto pipeline. Left hand corners were... interesting.
Stage 2: No heroics, just tried to learn some more about the car. Found a noise in the front end on the following transport, found out that I just has some loose wheel nuts!
Stage 3: Now at the back of the field (due to tyre change and slow transport), caught the car in front but couldn't get past for quite some distance (nothing against them, they weren't expecting me, note to self... fit louder horn).
Stage 4: Tried too hard. Kept overshooting corners. Nav felt sick (good naming guys!).
Stage 5: Absolutely flying. Car doing most things right. Could clearly still be faster but I'm wrapped.... right up to the point about 250 metres short of the finish line... The drivers side front ball-joint let go. No, it didn't break, it just popped out of its socket. I could see the finish line!
Roll on Bathurst....

Photos and especially video of Car 12 would be appreciated...Chuck, were you out there again?
Damo reminds me that the road closure on Blue Range Road possibly would have got some good stuff.
Thanks,
M

Yes, I figured You either (A)had a problem, (B) were just crazy , or (C) were running in stealth mode (although the noise does give You away ) .......when You arrived & completely missed the corner at My road closure , but then so did half the field.......and They had lights.

Thanks to all the officials, orginisers and sponsors for getting the event off the ground.
It was a spur of the minute thing to enter so a big thanks to Fro for servicing at the last minute and a even bigger thanks to Naomi for looking after the children.
After having two runs in the car with braking problems I was hoping that the problem would be now fixed New hub and 10 pound knock of springs did the job.
Stage one was a blast, loved that stage (RIP Pipeline) car felt great and was starting to do every thing that I wanted. The result gave some inspiration.
Stage two what can I say, maybe start to push that bit to much, missed a call and headed off into the blackberries once again. Now I know there is some photo's and would love to see them, and thanks for retrieving our mud flap
The rest was settle down and get some more experience in the car without hurting it.
Changed my drive style on the last run through vomitron and ended up 3rd in stage. So that looks to be the way.
Thanks to Renee for pointing me in the right direction again, and every body else through out the day
Cheers
Ian
