Targa West - 2010

Got a few photos to my email account today.
Not such a happy ending to one competitors event!
The doors look good, perfect use of the crumple zones.....

DAT610_WA got a bit of a rap
From what I've heard, co-driver found dazed and confused wandering down the road, driver still in the seat and not in good shape. Estimated +160 with an almost dead stop.
Haven't heard how well the driver is recovering.

Doug_T has some part of a clue
I was there when it happened, that's me in the yellow driving suit and the guy next to me in the red suit was filming the corner for the Targa DVD.
The driver and co-driver are brothers, the driver was unconsious and bleeding from the nose, co-driver was remarkably composed. He got himself out of the car and showed the SOS to the next car while I was calling for the FIV on the camera car's 2 way radio. I watched it happen, have seen the video from our camera and the in-car and the impact would be 70-ish km/h from my reckoning. The stage was stopped pretty much immediately and the FIV was on the scene in minutes. The driver was conscious withing a minute or so. He had a broken/swollen foot.

My info was second hand and had another driver as first on scene. And also as a much bigger hit.

Andy Van K was the first competition car to arrive on the scene ~30 seconds after the accident, we were already there for some time prior to film the corner for the DVD. It was certainly a big hit, there's no denying that, but thankfully not 160, that would have been a vastly different scenario.
