It took four years of trying, but I've finally done it! Last place! Woohoo!
Without bothering to check against the entry list, it would seem that Jen got second in the "left-over sons of Nippon" class, to a Mr D Officer. Not bad, not bad at all.

Anyone know if the Fiat was finished on time, and if so why it doesn't appear above?

There was a Fiat X19 that started in front of Jen and I (Rob Plenter/Paul Franklin - Broken suspension), but I assume that you were talking about the Stuart McLaughlin/Bro Brandon Fiat 131? Didn't get through rego on Friday, didn't make it to the event...

Dunno, we're still waiting to see them. We'd have done OK except for the idiot in the RX-5...

I suspect that would have been taken out by the "Turning Dollars into Dust" team .... they had 5 cars in the top 20 !
Semmens
Wise
Snooks
Snooks
Snooks
A little hard to beat ... even though their 6th member (Gordon Douglas) was a non-starter.
Speaking of "Trout" Douglas ...... apparently when his engine needed a major rebuild just before the event, he just donated the money he would have spent doing the rally to the organisers as sponsorship (that was the "Border Oils" money ..... to the tune of $2000). That just about qualifies the man for "legend" status, in my book

... and speaking of legends ....
Legend No. 1 - Bob Watson
Bob is over 60, driving a Historic-spec 1600 (L16 motor, standard 4 speed box, standard brakes) and comes in 15th outright.
I guess if you are THAT good, you dont ever lose it. Just about the drive of the event, for mine....except perhaps for .....
Legend No. 2 - Brian Semmens
Brian had major back surgery early this year and had not driven a rally car for a year until doing a "warm up" clubbie 2 weeks ago .... and then goes out & wins the Alpine. Just incredible.
I have it on good authority that a couple of times during the daylight stages he saw 240 km/h on the clock The man must have gonads like basketballs (and also has a greater capacity for VB than just about anyone I know !!)
